So I passed 3 days ago and I went to look at an MG4 trophy, I immediately wanted one but unfortunately the dealership didn't have the colour I wanted. I have driven one a little too and it's a massive upgrade from a manual. I am planning on getting a black 2023 model with under 20k miles. Does anyone have any advice at all? Things to look out for, best milage, how to find the capacity left on the battery to make sure it's good etc... Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

No worries.

Also, in regards to the battery, don't worry too much about it, the general experience most MG4 drivers seem to have on here is that the battery health stays high for a long time. Unless you are unlucky enough to have a car from an owner who went out of their way to ruin the battery pack, you'll be fine. Some people do nothing but Rapid (DC-DC) charging to high percentages on the NMC packs, and they still record great battery health numbers.

You could ask the dealership to give you a figure, but I don't think battery health is the big ticket item it used to be.

Check the under tray for bulging, and if it's an MG dealer see if you can have them check if it's had the LKA update (SC077) done. You'll have to take the dealer's word for it though, it's pretty much impossible for most of us to see the software versions of all modules in the car. (maybe the smart people in this thread can)

I think those are your main things to check, besides the regular stuff like tyre threads etc.

My only comment would be is to be absolutely 100% positive that the services have been done as required to maintain the warranty - it is 15,000 miles or 12 months (whichever comes first). A 2023 Trophy should therefore have had 2 services unless it was registered very late in the year.

As the service records are online you would need to confirm this with an MG dealer if you are purchasing outside of the MG network and don't believe any salesperson that claims it has been done without something in writing.

Good luck finding one and well done passing your test.

MG 4 trophy is group 25 for insurance.
I get up to 85mpg on long runs on motorway @55mph

Yes, it is around £1800-2000 a year
Welcome to the forum.

I'm actually surprised at this price. I thought it would be much higher for someone who has just passed their test. My daughter passed her test over a year ago, and I tried to add her to my insurance for my MG4 as an additional driver, but no one was willing to quote. She does have her own car and two years no claims though.

Please could you share who you got the quote from?
