Long motorway round trip in MG S5EV – Update after completing the trip

Believe it or not, I got my trusty power washer out yesterday and it decided to break on me, with water pouring out of the bottom.

I’ve taken it apart today and the pump is visibly broken. I reckon I can DIY repair it so I’ve ordered a new pump assembly.

It means the car will need to wait a few days for its wash, but it’s snowed and rained a bit today and the car doesn’t look nearly as bad with a bit of moisture added. It’s the dry winter dirt and salt that always looks bad.
I've lost a couple of Karcher washers to freezing, the plastic pump is the problem. I repaired the first one, the second one had multiple parts broken so I dumped it.

Yes I’ve had experience of Karcher before and they’re definitely not made to last.

This one is a Nilfisk which is meant to be built a bit better. The pump is aluminium rather than plastic but it does look like it has succumbed to the cold.

I’m not sure what these “bits” on the pump assembly are called but one has come off completely and the other is cracked.

hopefully the parts won't be too expensive to replace. I did mean to try using the air line to blow any water out when frosts were expected, not sure if that would work though.
