What car is your EV? If you look at the Miles/KW, then divided that into the £0.32, and that will give your your fuel cost per mile. Should still be reasonably competitive with ICE, AND you are not polluting the streets...

But I've worked out that at 35mpg for my Volvo and current diesel prices the point at which EV's become more expensive is about 65p/kwh. So a fair bit of headroom yet..

The running costs are very important of course, but as a side note.
Would you prefer to drive an almost silent EV or a noisy oil burner.

I totally agree
My wife has my old 2012 plate cmax petrol and it seems so antiquated when I have to drive it
Gears,clutch and hand brakes what are they for?
EV is the way to go

have you considered solar and battery storage? you can also top up your battery with cheaper (and greener) energy at night rates.

I know they are the 'de facto' cheapest but their green credentials are way down the list of suppliers and that means a lot to me. I didn't buy an EV to fuel it from 'dirty electrons'.

It's interesting that EDF don't make it on to your 'green' list, as Britain's largest generator of zero carbon electricity.
(Although I see someone else is having bother sorting their tariff with EDF)

Wrt solar, it depends where you are and what size array you can have. Yesterday I made 0.1 kWh, the day before 0.3. the day before was a relative blinder at 0.7.

Hardly enough to charge a phone let alone a car!!

I'm in the SE with a 3.76 kWh array and have no batteries. On a good summer's day I can nearly reach 20 kWh but they are fairly rare.

Didn't Bulb go under as well? I was with them a while back and changed to Utility Point through Look After My Bills. That went well...(I've got a tub too so not really interested in the Octopus go tariff!)

Yes bulb are in receivership but the government are running them as too big to transfer. Idea is to get them back trading independently later. Tariffs is protected during this period.

At the end of the day, your energy comes from the grid. It doesn't matter how much these companies dress it up, you are getting your energy the same as everyone else. They try to say they are green etc. but they have to do that by offsetting the fossil fuels with energy from wind, solar etc.

When you boil your kettle tonight though, some of it will be via fossil fuels regardless.
