7 months in and still really enjoying my S5.
Had an issue yesterday when it threw up lots of errors and warnings. Most worryingly a steering error.
Long story short MG customer care very little help and was facing several weeks wait for a slot at a local MG garage.
I contacted MG assist who were great, sorted the car on the drive.
It turns out it was a loose negative connection to the battery. Ben, the AA man said this was not the first he had dealt with and that 12v battery disconnection can throw up allsorts of errors. He also showed me how to reset the steering issue (full turn left then right the centre the wheel).
Just thought this might be useful for others to know.
Cheers

Thanks, that is interesting. 12V battery seems to be the first thing to check when any EV starts throwing up random errors.

This is a fairly common issue that affects most brands of EVs coming from China. They remove the negative terminal while the cars are being shipped so the 12V battery doesn't go flat and disabling the alarms. They just push fit it when they move the car. Unfortunately a lot of dealers don't check the battery terminals during the PDI.

Checking the security of the terminals on the 12 volt battery SHOULD be an item on the PDI check sheet.
Checking the security of the road wheel bolts is a normal practice on the PDI check sheet.
Likely to be the reason why the wheel covers never get fitted at the factory.
If the battery terminals is not an item on the sheet, then surely it should be !
If it IS indeed already on a PDI check sheet, then the dealer is claiming for the work and clearly not performing the task they are being paid for.
You have to question what other items don’t get checked as well then ?.
