Parasitic drain on 12V battery

👍, I was going to ask them to put a new one on regardless, even if it means I buy the battery, just for peace of mind.

If you're going to do that, buy one from Tayna batteries online, you should be able to match the size and capacity etc and they deliver quickly. No point paying the dealers inflated prices.

I was thinking of doing that but I shouldn't have to do that on a 25 plate car that's 2 months old.
plus it drains the battery lol

I have already mentioned the boot could be the cause. No they have not replaced the 12v battery, so now it has been depleted 3 times and been recharged. Me personally I would have put a new battery on but they don't listen.
Does the 12V battery charge when you recharge the traction battery?

BTW like lots of other EV owners I also have a small jump starter which I keep under the seat, just in case the 12V battery drains, especially when parked for a few weeks whilst on holiday, bought for my MG4 when new 2 years ago, now used to the S5.

Something I've noticed on the MGS5 MG ismart app which differs from the MG4, when using the "Vehicle Status" menu, there is NO 12V battery reading as was with the MG4, this was very useful to keep tags on the 12V battery, especially when on holiday.

Is this the same with other MGS5 owners or am I alone?

All I get on Vehicle Status are the following 4 readings, "lock status", "door status" (open or closed), "tyres status" and "interior temperature", there were several more readings on the MG4 app.

Has anyone found them hidden somewhere?

Yes you are right, it doesn't show battery state. Only certain countries have it, but the app is hopeless, every time I used it, it logged me out.
The only thing the app does better for me than on the MG4 is once charging schedule is set up, I just connect the charge cable and it does everything, faultlessly charging to the set 80% without need to set it up every time, just need to change the charge level when we go on a longer trip.

But WHY is there NO 12V battery monitoring on the S5 cant be a matter of penny pinching again surely!

That is a lot more important to most than telling us the firkin door is open or closed properly, after all, when locking the car with the door not properly closed, the horn sounds!

I have no issue using the app but our version is lacking in options compared to other countries.
Definitely, but why?

I've had nothing but problems so I've deleted it. It kept saying I was logged onto another device.
Sounds to me like you need to reinstall the app and ensure you bind it to the correct car.

👍

I've installed and deleted the app 3 times, still have the same problem, logged in on another device then logged me out.
Sounds odd, maybe there's someone on this forum who can help!

If not, ask a main dealer, but my honest impression, is they are more driven on meeting sales targets than helping the people who make those sales targets happen.

If you did decide to go for replacement battery yourself, then maybe go for a battery that offers a five year warranty ?.
The Bosch / Exide units usually do.
This is better than the OEM battery that only comes with a 12 month warranty, which does not hold much faith in the factory batteries at all really 🤔.
Although we should even be considering this really on a new car after all !.

This has been brought up on other threads, why the 12V battery status is not cover on the vehicle check in the App is a complete mystery to everybody I think.
Being able to keep an eye on your 12 volt battery condition, is vitally important on EVs I think.
It’s not really obvious where the 12 volt battery condition / status is displayed in the car either ?.
Yes it’s there after a bit of digging in the head unit, but why tuck it away in the menus is crazy.
The 12 volt battery's SOH really needs to be displayed in the drivers instrument cluster or the head unit I think ?.
If you wanted the 12 volt battery status to be visible in your mobile device etc, then you can buy ( for about £20 ) a 12 volt battery monitor, it can be installed in only about 5 - 10 minutes by yourself and if free of charge in about 10 minutes.

I agree !.
We have no idea why they decided to omit the 12 volt battery status on the vehicle check in the App for the S5 ?.
It was on the both models of the ZS EV.
They must have a lot of misplaced trust in them batteries that they are fitting, that’s for sure !.
We can only hope that they include it in an update on the App ??.
But don’t hold your breath mind 🥴.
