MGS5 12V battery dead

I have seen the state of charge go from 70% to 80% while plugged in over night for example.
Yeah - This is very true, the 12 volt battery does receive a charge, when the traction battery is being charged from an A/C supply.
Previous MG models are configured in the same way.
I think it would be helpful if the 12 volt battery just had a bit more spare capacity though tbh.
I can’t help but feel that at its present factory size, there is very little margin for any extra drain / usage in standby mode.
Therefore it is easy to get caught out with a flat battery.
A larger 12 volt battery, would mean it being less reliant on the car having to be in ready mode almost constantly, in order to maintain its fully charged state.
Manufactures have been reducing and reducing the size / capacity of 12 volt batteries for a long time now.
This action reduces production costs and also the total weight of the car.
Reducing weight has a big saving when it comes to improving the efficiency / economy of any car.
Recharging the 12 volt battery on ICE vehicles, is different as charging is provided by a high output alternator when the engine is running.
An alternator has the ability to very quickly replace any consumed energy, straight back into the battery.
Allowing manufacturers to install more economical, smaller / lighter batteries.
The smaller battery is only required to turn the car over, then the alternator instantly replaces any energy consumed.
I just don’t feel that an EV’s charging system is as urgent in its approach to replenishing battery energy somehow 🤷🏻.
I think if I was to replace our 12 volt battery, I would strongly consider installing a battery with just a bit more storage capacity myself.
The factory battery is only under warranty for 12 months, so it only needs to last that long anyway.
