MGS5 12V battery dead

Yes, mine did this again yesterday morning. It's preceded by the "USB Recognition Failed" message on the centre screen on start up, then the radio getting stuck on one station, then eventually a battery drain. I have the car booked in for tomorrow for an investigation, but since everything has rebooted now, it's all OK. I'll have to contact the garage to see if it's still worth taking the car in, or just wait till I get the error again and the doom loop begins again.
That is exactly my symptoms usb is not recognised, radio stuck, now completely dead on the drive. This is obviously a build fault.

My car died the other day for the second time since owning the car. First incident for Nov 25 and now again last week.

Both times I had spent extended time in the car without having it in ready mode. First time fitting a screen protector. Second time doing an extended clean inside the vechicle.

It seems the 12v wont last very long at all powering pretty much any of the car without it being in drive mode. Problem is when you get out of the seat it turns ready mode off. So when cleaning it thats going to be a problem.

Thanksfully I have a jump starter and it get back to life fairly quickly.

But this being the second time ive had this issue with the exact same cause and effect. Maybe other people can learn from this themselves in regards to working out their own issues.

My car never got checked out in the end as the battery died effectively resetting everything when it was charged back up so the error wasn't there on the day of the appointment. However, the error hasn't reoccured possibly due to the fact that whenever we go out of the local area far enough to lose reception from our local radio station (V2, the spirit of the south 😁), we switch to Radio 2, or use TuneIn radio Android Auto.

The car should charge the 12V battery automatically when needed. I've seen it do that when sat in the car and not in drive.

I have a hard wired dashcam with parking mode set to 6 hours, and it's been fine since I fitted it last year. I'd suspect the 12V battery is bad.

I have battery tested my 12v battery and its state of health is 100%. In my case its certaintly nothing to do with the health of the 12v.

That's interesting. Must be something to do with the car not charging it then.

The reality is the MG is a great car to drive. I mostly really enjoy it. But the tech around it isn't the best. Issues with phantom breaking, DAB, Android Auto, Boot not opening correctly, the app can't communicate with the car most the time and is unresponsive.... The 12v management is just another bit of tech in the car which is poorly implemented. Althought its not alone in this. Other EVs have similar issues - god knows why with a massive battery underneath it.

Overall I like the car but its flawed. But its priced much lower than other makes / models so I guess you get what you pay for.
