Great, used a pair of pliers, the whole circular part movesAh. In which case use a tool (large flat blade screwdriver?) to rotate the fixings in the mat .. they do turn, it's just not easy to do. (Same applies for the floor fixings).
Just need to reorder the mats now as I returned them as being unsuitable. Doh!
