Just out of curiosity as I've never dealt with matte paint (still waiting for delivery actually), but if you add one of the wipe on ceramic style coatings does it then give the car a gloss finish appearance?

Is it something you'd recommend? I'm already looking at wax free shampoo's.

Also would anyone recommend G101 cleaner on matte paint?

Loads of Matt paint, cleaning stuff on the market now. By well known makers. Very much doubt any specific product for Matt paint, gives it a Gloss finish, sort of defeating the object. To be honest the paint on the X Power is probably more Satin than Matt, but same principle. 🙂👍

There's some good info in this thread about coatings, as well as other cleaning products for matte paint :-

To be honest with you regarding matte colours you would be better getting paint protection clear vinyl wrap on all the areas that get damage from stone chips bumper bonnet front wings mirrors etc, because ceramic coating isn't going to protect from stone chips , because I can almost guarantee trying to get a matte panel painted to match original will be almost impossible.vinyl wrap protects the paint that's my opinion . Also if you get a vinyl wrap you can ceramic coat that also if you wish ?.

Yes Ceramic coatings main forte is easier cleaning to a degree and some decent protection from contamination, bird crap etc but any idea that they reduce impact damage to the paint from stones etc is false.

My X Power is the Orange but i do like the Green but i am a bit of a nerd with detailing mine and go out of my way to keep it looking as good as i can, for me a Matte surface would be a recipe for a nervous breakdown, but they look fantastic, the X power especially so.

Yes I totally agree with you ceramic coating is good protection for bird crap etc the matte is lovely but IAM like yourself I would be a worse nervous wreck than I am now if had matte paint work. If you want to protect paintwork vinyl wrap is the best option doesn't matter what paint finish .😉

Anyone tried applying their own PPF?

I have found a few matte finish, mostly gloss though
Yes I tried ppf on the bonnet, let's just say the dustbin was more than happy gobbling up the ppf 😁 my advice get someone that knows what they are doing , because my attempt had more air bubbles in it than a bar of aero chocolate 😁

Is there an Echo? 🤣😉🙂👍

Saw a video of a guy doing it and he got it on looking kind of Ok,

Until he pulled car out into daylight and saw there was contamination, dust and couple specs of something or other trapped under it, looked bad.
So it is not just bubbles, paint needs to be A1.
