Agree, EVs now paying 195 quid and clapped out old diesels paying 35 quid. Me Nephews just paid 20 quid for his 12 year old Focus petrol, does seem ludicrous.
But have to say good luck to them, it's not the owners fault. It's the crazy government.

Aye I’ve just paid £195 for my electric Berlingo and my daughter is about to pay £20 to put her “new to her” nine year old diesel Berlingo on the road.

It actually makes perfect sense to the government John !.
It’s the level headed sensible people like us, that it makes no sense to .
It’s simple, they just shift the goal posts to provide an amount of money, then to simply throw away again on other misplaced ideas.
You know, like the millions and millions of pounds that got spent on the 20Mph reduction in Wales, then spent million more covering a percentage of them back to 30Mph.
Nobody thought it maybe would have been a good idea to consult the people first ?.
No - far to easy that one.
Better to waste the money, then expect us to foot the bill.
We were an easy target tbh, now just helping them to re-balance the books.
Of course non of this extra income generated from the si called “Road Tax” revenue, will ever get spent on the roads of course !.
No no no - What were we all thinking ?.
We are not here to think, just to shut up and pay up !.

Every time devolving decision-making to local people gets mentioned, central government says: "But what if they spend the money badly?"!! Makes me laugh out loud.
