I'm considering buying a MG HS Hybrid+ but one thing worries me about this car - traction battery placement.
It is placed under the chassis, in the center of the car. There is no more than 20cm between battery and ground floor. In my opinion this is the worst place to install the battery because it is very easy to damage it by ie. going down a high curb or driving on a bumpy road. Just a strong blow and the battery is destroyed, and the replacement cost is about £2500-3000. DC cable and plug are not covered. It is also easy to stole the battery - just unscrew few screws. What do you think about it? Do you use some additional covers or protect them in any other way?
Now I am driving Kia Sportage V HEV and battery is placed under the rear seats. This is much safer place for it, I think.
