I’ve had the same problem. I can’t use the app first thing in morning when I really need it. It starts working later in day as temps increase.I think you’re onto something here….on reflection I‘ve only had this problem in cold weather
You’d think?!First 6 months the car (4xpower) and the app were a dream. The car’s still ace but the app is really p***ing me off. Surely it’s a solvable problem or MG would struggle selling the cars in cold countries.
Mine not working too, trying to unbind and reset but it doesn’t send the code so I take it it’s their side. Hopefully they fix it soon, missed it this frosty morning.Hi. Over the weekend the iSMART APP appeared to be down. I checked again this morning, the wheel goes round, as the APP tries to communicate with the car. But after 30 seconds it gives up and reports “the request timed out, please try again later”.
The app is very good, especially now, as it allows the AC and heated seat and steering wheel to be remotely switched on.
Has anyone else experienced this.
Many thanks Noel.
I tend to agree with you but why would cold weather prevent a data transfer between app and car - is the wireless modem freezing?! I love it mainly but nothing would surprise me with this vehicle!I think you’re onto something here….on reflection I‘ve only had this problem in cold weather
If it don’t work when it’s freezing, it pointless, mine been fine till 08.01 this morning. It’s stuck on that update time. Tracker still works tho so cold not effecting signalI tend to agree with you but why would cold weather prevent a data transfer between app and car - is the wireless modem freezing?! I have had the issue since about 8:00pm last night when of course the temperature dropped as you suggest and I am not sure it has got back up above freezing all day which might be why not working! I like your logic but as you say, how ironic!I am now convinced that the iSMART App stops working when the outside temperature drops to 2°C or below.
When the temperature goes down, the car is no longer able to connect to the app.
How ironic, when the app is supposed to connect to the vehicle to allow heating. When the temperature rises, the app reconnects.
As previously stated by others, I just get the spinning wheel of fortune, that eventually times out.
Would be great to hear if anyone else finds this problem only happens in the cold.
Hi how do you do a manual update status of the car please?Hi.
I figured out how this app is working. It is working very stable in my case. Always, when you open the app, the first thing you do is manual update status of the car. Wait until those arrows on top stop rotating and you're ready to go.
Hi Noel, my app is behaving in the same way as yours was….ie not working. Whats Poke and Hope and did it sort yours?Hi David.
I went out to the car and used the recommended poke and hope processand now everything seems to be back to normal
.
No doubt, after doing this, I will, discover something else that I’ve inadvertently disabled. Owning this car is akin to a voyage of discovery.️
Same as me. I think the App was updated yesterday, maybe that’s affected itTried mine this morning at 6:30am and freezing and it didn’t work.
Just tried it again and it’s still not working. Just times out. First problems I’ve had with it. It is still -2 outside.
I had the same issue when I had mine two weeks ago. I scouted round the menus and found where the problem is (which is what I think your dealer would have done). From memory it’s something like this:-
1.) From the home screen swipe left and select settings.
2.) Select the Privacy policy option (think it’s the very bottom one)
3.) Make sure you’ve accepted the privacy policy and then enable the Global Data Switch option
My iSmart app connected straight away after this.
