MG Return to Longbridge?

Unfortunately they are building 200 houses on the Longbridge site, I have read.

If I am not mistaken Chinese firms enjoy tax breaks when building cars in home country which is one of the reasons they can build cars at the prices we have come to expect of them.
It would take more than the MG brand legacy to persuade SAIC to build cars on this site.
The sale figures in UK though good are not enough to sustain an assembly line and In the absence of good trade agreements we are not in best shape to start exporting either.
If SAIC were to take up contract manufacturing in UK for multiple brands then it may be feasible to run the plant.

All of these are far fetched thoughts and houses are probably what we need in the country.

Zero chance after Brexit this is happening. Why build a factory here when a large chunk of your suppliers are close by but behind a trade barrier that doesn't exist if you put it in an actual EU country?
