This was posted on Facebook. It's an interesting take on the problem.

Regarding this weekends issues, AI had said this, make of it what you will

It is very likely that the AWS service disruptions and the laggy infotainment performance are two sides of the same coin.
When cloud services like AWS experience "high latency" (sluggish response times), it doesn't just break the mobile app; it can actually cause the car's physical screen to freeze or lag. Here is why this is happening and what you can do.
Why AWS causes "Screen Lag"
Most modern MG infotainment systems are "Cloud-First." This means the unit is constantly trying to "talk" to the server in the background for several things:
Live Traffic Data: The navigation system pings the server every few seconds.
Weather/Music Apps: Widgets on your home screen are constantly refreshing.
User Profiles: The car checks for your specific settings and "handshakes" with the MG server.
The "Hang" Cycle: When the AWS servers are slow (as they were this weekend), the car’s software gets stuck in a "waiting" loop. It sends a request, doesn't get an answer, and the processor stays busy trying to reconnect rather than responding to your touch inputs on the screen.
Immediate Troubleshooting
If the screen is lagging to the point of being unusable, you can try these steps to "break" the loop:
The "Home" Hard Reset:
Find the physical Home button (usually a house icon or a physical button below the screen).
Press and hold it for 10–15 seconds.
The screen should go black and the MG logo will reappear. This forces the system to clear its cache and try a fresh connection.
Disable the Data Connection:
If you can get into the settings, try turning off the Internal SIM/Data or Wi-Fi.
By cutting the car's internet access, you stop it from "searching" for the broken AWS servers, which often restores smoothness to the local UI (radio, local maps, etc.).
The "Battery Reset" (Last Resort):
Some owners have reported that if the system is completely "zombied," locking the car and leaving it for 30 minutes (allowing the 12V system to go to sleep) is more effective than a button reset.
Is it a hardware fault?
Because this is happening to "many people" simultaneously this weekend, it is almost certainly a software/network issue rather than your specific screen failing. Once AWS fully stabilizes the US-EAST-1 and IAM services, the background "noise" will stop, and your unit should return to normal speed.

Keen to see the results here
Not really much to see other than a list of domains.

This is a UK based forum so please post in English.

It could be worse. Tesla have just announced they are integrating Grok AI into their cars
That's got page 3 of the infotainment system sorted out.

I used the power of free speech offered by Grok self referentially last night to make a video of EM telling the world his true nature, but I fear it would breach this forum's community guidelines. (I still hold that he is one, mind you.)

To me, this sounds more like a rote response than anything based on knowledge or experience.

Whenever you report a fault on consumer electronics, they always start by telling you to do a software update and factory reset, however much of a pain in the arse that causes (such as losing all your Wi-Fi passwords, settings, cache and so on).

I would love it to turn out that your car is now fine, and if it is, I will follow suit, but at the moment it just sounds like a local dealership shooting in the dark and wanting to say something rather than nothing.
Happy to report that after several drives today the system is working as it should. I did not loose anything like the wifi passwords etc. the only thing I lost was the saved MGPilot setting.

Morning all, just tried car all seems to be up to speed and working as it was before, hope that's an end to it, I think we would all be happier if we had been warned that it may get taken a while to complete if it is an update????

I am also up and running this morning.

I don't think it was anything to do with software upgrades, it seems from all the evidence that AWS went down, and took the MG network with it.

I don't think that absolves MG in any way. They should write their software such that if it can't get through to mothership, it should stop trying…

I founded, owned and ran a successful software company, and if one of my employees wrote this kind of thing into our software, they would have been, shall we say, retrained or worse…

I have been a software developer since the mid 80's, I agree they should plan for the unforeseen and deal with it in a robust way.

mine seems OK this morning - had to setup the Nav again for some reason but everything except Carplay is OK now.

Carplay keeps trying but fails to connect either on BT or a cable - any suggestions? (Cable is fine, used before and another one tried just to be sure)
