Hi
This post is mostly for the future if someone comes looking, i had a search on here and found only one mention of this and it was an open ended one where the initial poster, did not come back to post an update.
So last thursday the wife drove to work in the ZS EV, when she finished work and wanted to go home the car would not "start", it just displayed a message EP in the instrument cluster where the "selected gear" indicator usually is.
Called up the MG workshop, they claimed they had never heard of or seen this error ever before and to have the car towed to them. They got it Thursday evening after closing, i was in the area Friday so popped in to ask about the patient. They said they had the car in the shop, they were diagnosing it but had not found the problem yet.
A few hours later i got a call, they had diagnosed the error and a spare part had been ordered, expected to arrive monday.
Monday afternoon they send a text, the car was ready to be picked up, price "free" as it was under warranty.
They changed the following partnumber 11017654, which if you google is the whole gear selector module, they said the car was unable to communicate with this module so the car did not know how to shift into gear, so displayed the EP message.
So, if you come here in the future because you searched for why your car says EP, this MIGHT just be the problem (I dont know if this EP message can have other causes)
