I recently purchased an MG3 Hybrid+ and have been reading concerning reports from other owners about severe power loss issues when driving uphill. According to these reports, the car loses approximately 150 horsepower on inclines, dropping to around 40hp and slowing to 30 km/h. Is this issue still occurring with current models? Has MG released any updates or fixes to address this problem?

This is the main discussion on the subject if you haven't already seen it @apostoloa ?

We have just bought a mg 3 trophy + and this is a major problem with the car we have only had the car less than 2 weeks MGuk say it is how the car drives and gives you hints on how to drive the car denying knowledge that something is not right with the car the dealer Vertu are about as helpful as Mg uk we have rejected the car as it is definitely not safe the car slows no brake lights the cars behind are not happy I am also concerned about overtaking ? Lost all confidence in the car MGuk sent out a memo to the dealers in April to let the dealers know to inform customers of the way the car should be driven and how it affects the car but won’t accept liability the dealers neither

Refer to the other threads on this issue. It depends on the software installed. I had mine changed to one that doesn't lose power, but does over rev. However fuel consumption improved! There is supposed to be an update later this year. However, as I said my MG dealer did update my software.

The dealer said today as I took the car back again about the issues nobody gets back to you that the update had been done I am not at all pleased with the dealers or MG uk and as I have said we have rejected the car so will probably come to us employing a solicitor they are being very slow the car goes back into the workshop next Wednesday then a test drive with the technician to see if any change if not then it will get to a shouting match no doubt very poor

Living in a mountainous area in Spain the over revving and the lack of power uphill was somewhat compounded to the point that I used different, longer, flatter roads on my return journey home from the coast instead of the shorter, quicker, steeper mountain road.
The car has just had 1st service (free incidentally) I was informed that 4 updates had been installed. Don't know what they are. One was for the said uphills problem.
I had to try the steep hill after picking it up. To my total surprise it flew up it. Plenty of of power when I needed and the revs corresponded to the gear changes. Who'd of thought it. Thank you MG Elche.
Only the damn loud, annoying, fixed camera warning horn to get sorted and the driving experience will be complete.

To cure the fixed camera warning, go into sat nav settings, select the warnings tab, and click on each of the listed things. Each will give you an option of Visual only (i choose this), visual and sound, and nothing. Turn off the ones you dont want to beep at you and you'll just get on screen warnings.
