So I have a very annoying sunroof buffeting problem on my MG3 Hybrid. Even at low speed, if it's completely open it starts drumming and sounds like it's going to rip off. Never had any sunroof problems like this on other cats I owned. As there is no front sunroof dam or pop up cloth screen, I am thinking it's a design issue. What have other found? It's fine if it is used in the back lifted ventilation position. Is there some way to stop the buffeting?

Glen. I think the reason you are not getting any response is that we don't have an option for a sunroof in the UK. On previous owned cars when I have had a sunroof I always had some buffering wind noises. So much so that I would never have a sunroof, as I find them overated.

Yes I suspect your correct. The sunroof is standard equipment in Australia on the top spec Hybrid model, at least on those few delivered to date. I have a solution now, just cracking open the rear window slightly seems to eliminate the buffeting. I can understand the sunroof being not desirable in the UK, just let's in the rain.

Just picked up my MG3 Hybrid Essence and found the same thing. Its horrible and occurs between 40 - 70 kmph which is exactly the speed range where you'd want the sunroof open. Definitely a cheap-arse Chinese design issue. Needs a wind deflector thing to pop up or something when sunroof is full open, like my old BMW had. Seems it's the airflow entering the cavity that the sunroof retracts into. I found it stopped when i closed it about 6 inches or so. Not a great fix. Will have a mighty whinge when i take it back to the dealership for its 1000klm check.
Also feels a little light in the front wheels at times. Another design issue i suispect and possibly due to the extra weight of the EV battery in the rear taking weight off the front end.
Apart from those two things its an awesome little car for the price and is great to drive.
