MG4 SE SR - 215/50/17 vs 225/50/17

Hello ??

I want to replace my Continental Premium Contact C tires with another brand because they feel very poor in any condition. I always hear the ABS sound while braking.

However, I found UHP tires for the 225/50/17 tire size.

I already checked the handbook, but I couldn't find any information about different tire sizes.

Should I go for 225 or 215?

You’ll probably be ok. 225’s will add a bit of drag but should be ok otherwise. These aren’t low profile tyres so I really don’t see an issue but I would check with your insurance company that they are ok with it.

out of curiosity what tyres are you looking to replace the stock one with?

For what it’s worth I replaced the stock tyres with Bridgestone Turanza 6 in size 215/50R17 and it was well worth the upgrade and give plenty of lateral grip even in 215 width.

I found Michelin pilot sport 5 available in 215/50R17 in the UK.

In my previous car, I used Falken Sincera SN110 tires for 3 years. They were relatively cheap, but I loved the grip they provided on corners!
I always looked forward to corners to hit the gas pedal. ?
(also these're very satisfying in both wet and dry braking conditions.)

Now, I've found Falken Azenis FK520 tires for 225/50/17, which unfortunately aren't available for the 215/50/17 size.

i don’t know Falken that well (I know they are popular in the drifting community) but I would recommend the Bridgestone Turanza 6 I mentioned earlier, they also happen to be the cheapest online of the more premium brands, and probably only a tenner more per tyre than the azenis.
Bear in mind you will pay for the extra consumption with the azenis.
But if you are set on them let us know how it goes.
