MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

Just looked. WOW! I'll stick to me X Power. 🙂👍
Chinese is always cheaper but I do believe you still need to be smart about which Chinese car company you buy from saic motor group has ALOT of brands under its banner ..

Just like geely ..

Which offer better security in the long run for purchase..

Not sure I could get behind BYD personally!!

Companies particularly European have been around for 50 to 100 years yes you pay more but I also see the benefits of they haven’t been around for over 50 years at the very least by selling crap and closing down ..

A lot of Chinese car companies have failed leaving customers high and dry

Agree. Chinese brands are cheaper than their European counterparts. And no doubt at all, the Alpine 390, is a lovely motor. As is the IONIQ 5N. I just can't justify 60 odd grand for either, even if I could afford that kind of money. For pretty much the same performance.
Ok, I know they are probably built slightly better, handle slightly better etc. But for 40 odd grand more, they should be. 🙂👍

Could be CGI
For a while I thought it was one athlete in a motion capture suit transmitting to multiple robots. And that may be so for the first segment where the robots all did the exact same thing, including one very slight misstep at the end of one sequence.

But in later parts they'd have to have switched to multiple motion capture suits. It's certainly spectacular. This may be the future for certain types of entertainment.

They have certainly nailed the mechanical side of robotics though!

It is real wanna buy one?

How controlled.

The Kung Fu robots (notably Unitree G1) in Chinese shows are controlled through a mix of
pre-programmed, AI-driven motion, and real-time sensor feedback. They use advanced joint motors, LIDAR, and depth cameras for stability and balance during, allowing for complex, synchronized movements, rather than being simply teleoperated.

Key control mechanisms included:
  • AI-Based Motion Planning: The robots rely on pretrained, high-speed movement models that allow them to execute complex martial arts, such as backflips or kicks, without falling.
  • Real-Time Stabilization: Sensors in the joints and feet provide immediate feedback, allowing the robots to adjust their balance in real-time, even when experiencing disturbances like kicks or pushes.
  • Synchronized Choreography: For group performances, the robots use specialized software for cluster control, enabling them to align their positions, timing, and orientation with high precision.
  • Environment Calibration: Before performances, robots used mapped grid floors to calibrate their movements, ensuring accurate spatial awareness.

These demonstrations showcase a shift from purely scripted actions to more autonomous, robust, and agile humanoid robots.

This one’s a interesting car the Alpine 390. uses 3 electric motors supposedly makes for excellent handling..
470hp AWD.
Range is a bit low for my liking. I want that 700-800km range where as this is only 565km claimed .
You have a bladder that has an 800km range, you can drive that far and stay full alert in one go ...... Let's be a tad realistic here, 400km range and 30 mins 10% to 80% adds up to a total of around 700kms, you are going to need a min 1hr stop by this length of driving if you want to put in another 400kms followed by a 30 min break and another 300kms, 1400kms in a day, stop over night and start again the next day ......
Having driven 1600km in a single run a few times moving from our house in Lake Illawarra to Mannum, is really draining and takes a day to recover properly, why do it, unless you have to .... in my case, I had a job waiting to be done on each occasion.
I refused to attempt it the 3rd time, way too hard on the body and no matter how accustomed to long distance driving you are ...... it's a lot harder in a car at car speeds than in a truck at truck speeds, the hills give you a bit of a break from the extreme concentration when driving a truck .... and hitting a kangaroo in a truck is deadly for the kangaroo, a big red roo is deadly for a car and quite, possibly the driver ... deer or an emu you might walk away, a camel .... even in a truck you might not survive, not a hope in a car .....

I watched a Boston dynamics video showing how they train their robots. If they are doing the same sort of thing in China then it’s both terrifying and impressive.

They don’t program them as such. They do use body suits to show them what they want them to do but they then feed that into a model and get the AI to learn how to do it itself. The Boston dynamics one shows about 1000 of them all trying to do it at the same time in a simulation and they make loads of mistakes and fall over plenty but they eventually work it out between them and they add that to their model. Balancing on two legs is difficult, let alone doing cartwheels and backflips!

Perfect it once, then copy and paste the new skill to other models. How China seemingly got so far ahead I don’t know, but there is only one way this is going and it’s not good no matter what country is ahead!

Don’t believe me? Watch Battlestar Galactica 2004 😁👍

You do know there is a Recall out for all BMW's

Apparently it's a fault where the indicators don't work, but they are yet to find a solution.
That one should have been in the joke thread ;)

I thought there was a tech bulletin with big pictures that could be blown up wall size on a video projector, identifying the lever and how it's used, this was to be shown to any BMW owner who actually realised they weren't using the indicators and lodge a dealer complaint ....
