Mg5 72 plate not working with iSMART app

Just got my ‘new’ mg5 exclusive. It’s pre-facelift but has the larger screen infotainment system. I can’t get a qr code to bind the iSMART app though. Is my car not compatible or am I doing something wrong??

My understanding is the app is for facelift only.

What are the chances of a software upgrade I wonder?
Or is there an alternative app to remotely read the charging status?

In a word - no. The car doesn't contain the hardware required to support an app.

They really need to update the app to make it clear which vehicles are supported.
