Just after some advice/maybe support?

My lovely MG5 had a failure to charge from home on 24th February. I’ll cut a long story short, after a 2 week wait for an appointment at Drive MG dealer, it was diagnosed as a combined charger unit fault, which needs replacing. It will charge on their fast charger at Drive but not our home charger, or the local public fast charger . The car is in warranty despite being a 2021 plate. I understand that MG do drag their feet, but it is getting silly now. They say they are wating for MG to authorise the repair under warranty due to the value , but it has been nearly 4 weeks. I have been borrowing a car since my car broke down but that isn’t possible to continue….. Drive tried to arrange a courtesy car twice last week , but it was turned (they say they aren’t told the reason). I am starting to really stressed by all of this. The Lady I deal with at Drive is very pleasant, very apologetic but I can tell she has no say/ power over what is happening. What can I do ? Is there someone actually at MG I can speak to ? Any advice appreciated.

Don't understand what would be unique about their own fast charger (7kW?). Would it work for you if they agreed to let you charge your car at their charger? Also, does DC charging work?

Thanks for the reply but question isn't about the actual fault, that has been diagnosed as needing a new CCU. The question is about how I can progress my customer experience issue with the car not getting repaired and not being able to get a courtesy car. Continuing to drive the car and returning it to them for charging is an option I am looking at but will be very complicated . What I really want after 6 weeks with no car is the car repairing under warranty and a courtesy car in the mean time.

IIRC @Ian Key may be able to offer some advice - he had charging issues, which they thought were CCU but in the end turned out to be another related issue. Think it took about 5 to 6 months to sort out, but he managed to get some loan cars...

In the meantime you may need to use a DC charger to keep the vehicle on the road.

see this thread from his posting here onwards...

The garage most likely has their own DC charger to troubleshoot, it doesn’t use the (faulty?) AC/DC section of the CCU (DC/DC seems to be working)

It’s a quick way to determine that issue isn’t caused by the HV battery itself.

The car can therefore usually be charged @ any DC rapid station.
