I bought a low mileage MG5 standard range last year.
It's now due its 4th year service and I was wondering what others had paid for theirs to be done.
A dealer in Dorset has quoted me the best part of three hundred quid.
Does that seem to be the right amount?
It's just coming up to 28,000 miles so would that have any bearing on the price?

Many thanks

It sounds about the price people are being quoted when the coolant replacement is due.
Its always worth going onto the MG website to get a quote for a 1 year service contract. It asks for the registration number and current mileage and gives you a quote straight away.

Having 28k milage could put it in the low milage service bracket if it has done less than 10k since the last one.

AHH brilliant, didn't know you could do that.
Many thanks!

Saved me about £80 for my 2nd year service. Watch out for the timing though. I wasn't allowed to book my service until after the payment had been taken for the contract and that was weirdly a couple of weeks after I signed up.

Hi, have you got a link as I can't find the service contract bit on the MG site. Thank you.

Thank you.
This is what I was given for my 2021 Excite at 68k

Maybe check whether Cleevely mobile service would be able to help?

Just booked mine in at mg brindley Wolverhampton £350. + mot.
The receptionist said you get pollen filter, new key fob battery, diff oil ( I presume she meant reduction gear box) and brake fluid. Can't remember if she said battery coolant.
Tbf I failed to say it was low mileage.

At least this time she didn't ask what size the engine was:D, price based on cc for ice I'm presuming.

Coolant is a 5th year item, not 4 (unless you are hitting it on mileage rather than time).
Gearbox oil isn't part of the planned service schedule.

That's probably why I couldn't remember if she said coolant then(y)
She did say diff oil though so should be fun finding it.

Hi. I've just posted this on another thread as well so apologies for the repetition but it seemed relevant to both. Just ignore it if you've seen it already:-). I've just had a 4yr service on a 2021 MG5 EV for the princely sum of just under £300 and transmission oil change was shown as part of the schedule (although I can see you disagree with this Alb!). The problem I have is that I can't be sure they have actually done it. My suspicions arose when the invoice did not itemise the oil, whereas all other consumables were listed. I queried this and, after 5mins of fiddling on a PC, I was given a modified invoice with the oil now itemised (and the labour reduced to produce the same quoted overall total), and I was assured that the oil had actually been changed. Being a cynical old b@stard I looked at the undertray when I got home and found no indicaion of it's having been removed. No tool marks, finger prints etc, just an unmarked covering of dust including over all the fixings. What do I do? Just suck it up (the situation - not the oil) or do I take it further? It would help to know how the fluid is changed as I could possibly remove a small amount and see what it looks like, but even that could be ambiguous as I'm sure new oil will mix with old residues. I have since seen the Nissan Van video showing the drain plugs so I can presumably follow that in principle. But once I remove the undertray the evidence of the lack of markings will be erased! Bit of a dilemma really. For those thinking I am paranoid, I caught out another main dealer with evidence that the brake fluid had not been changed when it should have been at the 2nd yr service. They didn't seem happy about having to eat humble pie but they took it back to change it (No refund, no meaningful apology!). If it weren't for maintaining the warranty, I would NEVER take a car to a main dealer.

I've stopped using MG. Had a quote 5th year service £110 using genuine MG parts with a Bosch approved dealer. Save your self some money guys and boycott them. It's a rip off what they're charging now.

Thanks for your interest and advice. This 4th service will be my last service with MG. It'll take me to 65k miles. Due to the mileage, there would only be one more service after that to take me to the end of the warrany period (and it's a whopping £400!) so I'll take the gamble on it.

Yes i don't blame you MG can't refuse warranty claims long as the garage has used approved MG parts. I really can't justify their pricing any more for what they do , even the AA cover doesn't sweeten the deal.

If the third party garage doesn't follow your instructions then in my eyes the issue is on them to address any future issues.
