MG5 to Android Auto, has any one had problems getting either Waze or Google maps to work??

I plug in my phone, start the car BUT the blue triangle fails to light, drive down the road, stop the car, get out, lock the car, walk away turn round get into car press start, lo & behold blue triangle lights up, have returned car to dealers, software has been updated, now worse than ever, has anyone else had this problem??
