Registered in Dec, mostly home charged incl on Monday to 98%. On Tuesday I went to visit someone with an OHME on Octopus IOG and we couldn't get the car to take a charge, and assumed it was down to complications of the OHME and IOG. So I went to some public CCS chargers and tried 3 different chargers, all to no avail.

I got home with 8% left and plugged it in to start at 22:30 last night and end at 08:00 today and happened to wake up at 03:00 only to find it wasn't charging. It was up to 40%. The car display said "Charge done".

I've now tried it on two home chargers and two Osprey chargers with no luck. It is booked in to the dealer but I'm curious that I don't think I've seen the error reported here before, and I can't find it on an internet search.

Each time it was successful at doing anything on the car it says "Charge Done".

That sounds to me like it thinks it's done a full charge.

The Ospreys did start charging twice but at 0.05 kW, before stopping again - which has managed to raise the charge to 42% but over numerous attempts which finished prematurely.

I am tempted to do the "disconnect 12V battery" trick but really would like the problem solved rather than circumvented.

Does anyone know what this message really means and/or what's likely wrong? The phrase doesn't appear in the owner manual.

If you're using the Ismart app , I would check the charging management settings. I've noticed mine sometimes default to 40% lately . I always open the app to check when charging

OK, that's interesting. I've not used the app a lot though I do go in once in a while to see what's going on. I can't see that setting, where is it please? (Maybe it only shows when plugged in?). I've never set Scheduled Charging, and it's turned off.

EDIT: OMG I just found it, and it was set to 40%!! Off to test!

Edit 2: It is looking extremely promising...

EDIT 3: I hope I'm not being premature in calling it out as FIXED but it is now at 45%. Thank you so much @maskull, I owe you one or three!!!

It possibly came about as I have just changed my phone and Android does a fantastic job of porting across all your apps (I have just under 400!!) these days but some stuff still requires a bit of fettling - banking passwords and some other sensitive ones aren't carried over - and of course I have one or two apps which don't work on Android 15 on the whole it's been a painless experience but this may have been an unexpected side "benefit". In case anyone else is changing phones, I realised today it hadn't brought over my Google timeline, which I quite like, but as the old phone is still functional it wasn't hard to recover ( - back it up to the Google cloud and restore to your new phone).

Glad that it helped if only to save you a trip to the dealer .
Don't think it relates to the phone it seems to be a quirk of Ismart . Checked mine today and it's showing as 100% which was the last setting I used . Mostly it defaults to 80%,but I've noticed it defaulting to 40% lately

And if you use iSMART app to change % it doesn’t always actually change it (iOS version) sometimes takes several attempts to make it stick.

I had a similar issue. I'm on Octopus and have an Ohme charger. For the first few weeks I successfully charged using the Ohme app overnight using the dynamic charging. I never bothered with the MG app.

On the second week of having the MG5, the car refused to charge over 60% overnight. The dealer found no problems with the car, and the EV management wasn't active or set to 60%.

The fix that works for me is to create a charging schedule of 10pm - 7am in the MG app, and make sure the battery health is set to 100%. Then, you can set the Ohme app to deliver however much % you need during the cheap rate using the dynamic sessions.

Just sharing in case this helps someone.

Similar issue here, charging overnight hasn't worked as expected on my MG5 FL 73 plate, worked perfectly for last 17 months, but for the last few weeks (around the time the new MG app launched) it doesn't fully charge overnight.

Does the first few slots on the OhmePro/Ocotopus IGO dynamic schedule, but fails in the later slots, unless I manually click start charging on the iSMART app. Contacted Ohme, and they said the logs show a Suspended EV error from the car.

Got it booked in with a MG dealer next week, but in the short term, I've done like above poster and set a schedule over night on the car.

Had a similar issue with ours, a 12V hard reset fixed it (seemingly there was a discrepancy between the car/iSmart schedules?)

That sounds a lot like the issue some users experience when PV charging the MG5. If the sequence is interrupted (clouds passing) too many times the car refuses to resume charging.

Can you see how many times the dynamic schedule pauses the process and check if the charging always stops after the same no of cycles?
