MG5 Trophy "Charge Done"

If you only want to add 30% then set 'Top up my car by' to a percentage just over what you need. You may then get a single slot and it may work better

Resurrecting this as I just seem to have got over problems with my old OHME charger which has highlighted another potential issue.

The target charge figure in the app is "stuck" at 80%. Whatever I change it to in the (Android) app it goes away for a bit then comes back "Failed" - no reason given and the display still shows it at 80%. Doesn't make any difference whether the car is plugged in or not, or whether it's actually charging. The app is communicating with the car OK (albeit slowly) for other stuff.

The equivalent Charging Settings screen in the infotainment screen only has the scheduled charging option (currently off).

More often than not I want to charge to something other than 80% but it appears impossible! Anyone else come across this?

EDIT Current SoC is 72%

OK some more info. The iSmart app is 3.0.1 and looks like it only came out this week. This could be relevant as I charged to 100% a week ago.

Maybe someone else with an MG5 and iSmart can check their version and functionality please? Or anyone with iSmart 3.0.1

Meantime I'm going to see if I can find an older version.

I've already reported it through the app. Hardly worth engaging with a dealer, they'll want the car for a day to come to no conclusion.

Btw I found a post of a similar prob on MG4 in Oz, unresolved.

I've found older versions but they say not compatible with my phone.

Would someone with iSmart 3.01 please try changing their target charge?

Having read your post on the MG4 forum I tested my iSmart app, 3.0.1, with my MG4 Trophy. I changed my percentage from 90% to 80%. The first change failed but the second attempt worked but this often happened with previous app versions. I usually find the car's status first, then refresh the home page to ensure it is populated then go the EV Management page. Even then changing the battery level can take a number of tries.

Thanks for trying @Martinonline, at least I know it's not completely bust then.

I pretty much do what you do, i.e. ensure a couple of updates of status etc before changing it. And you're right, even though I've only recently found it, it always took a few goes to make it stick. But I just can't get it to stick at all now :-(

It's gonna be annoying if I can never charge to 100% again!!

Thanks, I'd previously cleared the cache but not the storage, to no effect. However I've sat for ages retrying this and after a million or more fails suddenly one worked - nothing had changed (except my mood!!). Unfortunately I'd become so mechanical I didn't really register whether it said Failed but I suspect it probably did.

And now I'm loath to change it back to see if it really does work LOL

As I mentioned I did a report to MG. I can't imagine for a minute they'll act on one persons report but you never know. I don't think there is anything else to prove or try - but thanks for your assistance, really appreciated. If I ever get any answer I'll post it here!!

On my mg5 the app always says it has failed but it almost always worked. If I refresh the screen it has changed the target percentage.

Oh, OK, thanks. It hadn't occurred to me that this might be the case, though I suspect not as it was always still at 80% when I went back in. As it's still showing 100% I'm not about to risk fiddling with it at the moment though!! :-)
