Mgs5 door locks

Hi my mgs5 auto locks when you drive off is there anyway this feature can be turned off ?

It’s a safety feature that has been built in, for a while now on most modern cars.
It can offer the driver some protection from other doors being opened, from the outside when you are waiting in a traffic jam in town for example.
Plenty of examples of personal items being snatched from the back seat of car while cueing in traffic etc.
Not sure why you would want to disable it tbh.
The driver usually has the ability to unlock all of the doors manually, via the door switch on the drivers door, on most previous MG models at least.

On the MG4 the door Auto-lock can be turned off in the 'Convenience' settings, so that's probably where you'll find it if it's available on the S5.

It can be turned off, but I dont understand why you would want to disable it!
Is there a particular reason why you need it turned off?

For me, two reasons I turned it off...
I'm forever ferrying my teenage daughter around and didn't like the fact that I had to unlock the door befdore she could get in. In truth I kept forgetting so she would try the handle then I would try to find the unlock button. Too tedious.
Also, said daughter, when exiting the car would pull the handle which wouldn't open the door and then, quite normally in my opinion, would pull it harder and potentially break it.

That's an unusual one, on the MG4, after the doors have auto-locked, you can open any door from inside without the need to unlock them (pulling the inside handle unlocks the door).

Yea understood, my wife is often doing the same thing on our MG4 (& MG S5) but I personally consider remembering the location of the lock and unlock button is an easy option that I soon got to remember, rather than risk a phantom rouge ****ish thief (however unlikely as we live in the deepest Hampshire countryside ) can't trust the rabbits around here either.
Anyway, a quick trundle through the info screen Wil let you turn it off, enjoy the MGS5, mine is paid for and being delivered in 10 days after we return from holiday. .

Yep, that's how I would want and expect it to work as well.
Sadly, not in my facelift ZSEV.

I think the one good idea of all doors locking, comes on the back of a lot of owners in large city’s etc, who when queuing in waiting traffic, became subject to theft of property from the back seats of the car.
The thief’s would target cars and have the traffic light sequence off to a fine art !.
They would wait until the last minute, then run along the line of cars and snatch open the back door and grab laptops etc from the cabin.
Then the lights would change and the driver would be forced to pull off quickly, leaving no time to make chase.
Although not a frequent thing ( thank goodness ) even child snatching god forbid !.
We owned both models of the ZS EV and I was more than happy to press the unlock button on the drivers door myself, it very easy to find and was worth having the safety feature built in to protect your rear passengers and belongings.
If the front seat passenger pulls the internal handle, then releases it, then pulls it again ( effectively a double pump ) it will release the locks.
Not sure if the doable pump trick works on the rear doors though ? - Try it .
