Hi All, looking to buy an MGS5 EV Essence 62 here in Aus upgrading from the MG ZS EV. It was a close run with the Geely EX5 which is better appointed but couldn't get over its suspension which is way too soft.

Anyway, I have noticed all the MG S5 EVs on sale in Mar 26 have build date range between Mar - Sep 25. Is this normal for MG or indicative that these vehicles don't sell well here in Aus? Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Interesting, maybe they are left over units built for the UK market and they didn't sell as well over there, so a resupply shipment was diverted to Aust.
Are the build date and Australian compliance date close? Or 6 mths or more apart?
The other possibility is they did a model run and then retooled for another model .....

Difference between build dates and compliance dates varies between 2-7 months. Specifically looking at Champagne Gold (that's what the boss wants). All the vehicles were built in Jul-Sep 25 with compliance dates a couple of months after that date. Outliers are those with compliance plates in Jan/Feb 26. This colour looks like a slow mover.

Going through a lease so they hopefully source one of the newer built vehicles. Have got a quote for $45K for the vehicle with window tinting and mats all round. Don't know if it's a good deal with a potentially 6 month old 'new' car.

The sticker inside the driver's door on our MG4 says Built Feb 24, maybe they change the marking method for different models and regions ....

To get a car less than 6 mths old in Australia, you would have to get it hand built somewhere local and take delivery at the factory/workshop. Holden's and Fords when they were made here in Aust would be 3mths old from built date by the time they reached the dealership

The leasing company has confirmed the car is a Jul 25 build. Will need to weigh up whether to proceed or hold out for something more recent.
Your call, the price should reflect the age of the car since build date, one built to order and shipped direct from the factory will be more expensive and unlikely to attract any buyer incentives .....

You are correct. The price of this vehicle is $45k and it includes mats and window tint. Was advised that a 2026 car will attract a price closer to the advertised price and will be a 12 week wait compared to a 2 week wait. Waiting on the boss’ call which way we go.

These won't be UK models - we don't get the panoramic sunroof here, but we do get a 170kW motor vs the 125kW unit in Australian models.

Well we have proceeded with the purchase. As T1 Terry said, long gone are the days after Ford/Holden/Toyota shut down where you could get a car less than three months old from the build date.

My brother bought a brand new Hyundai Sonata N-Line in Dec 24. I asked him to check the build date and it was Dec 23. He was surprised at the date as the car had just landed at the dealer when he bought it.

Ah yes, can't have that sort of power in such a small country as Australia, someone might press the throttle too hard and fly ring off edge and into the water
There no being driving around in these high powered UK vehicles in this country ....

The build date is on the placard on the drivers side door. It has the build date, vin and some other details.
Thanks, but none of our doors have any placards. I'm assuming you mean along the side or bottom? If there is meant to be something there, they didn't put it on. Worth talking to the dealer?

edited to add I see in the manual that the tyre pressure label is meant to be on the B Pillar as well as a Vehicle Identification Plate.

Sorry I rushed my response. It’s on the lower section of the B pillar on the drivers side door
No worries. Our placard doesn’t have a build date. Not really concerned but just curious
