My vehicle is fully charge and on the front on my house. I’ve tried to drive off, but the car will not let me select Drive or Reverse. Has anyone else experienced this and is there a solution?

Thanks for your quick response. I put the car back on charge at home and when it had reached 100% i tried it again and the selector was able to select drive and reverse ok. Before I plugged the car in, I completely powered it down for the duration of the charge - about an hour and a half.
It looks like the 12 volt battery had run down. I did some more research whilst the car was charging and found that other owners had experienced similar problems. I’ve only had the car from new since September, so I was quite worried about the situation.
Thanks again for your help.
This forum is absolutely brilliant, putting users together to share problems and solutions. With EVs it seems that this is a better way to find solutions than going to a dealer!

I think it might also refuse to select a gear if it thinks the drivers door is open.

Thank you Kevin. I think my door was closed, but it’s a useful tip! I believe that my problem was 12v battery related.

See if the incident happens again repeatedly before thinking of changing the 12v, just in case there was an element of something else in there.

Thanks Kevin, we’re going out for a longer run today so it will give the car an opportunity to charge the 12 v battery a bit of a charge. The car. Is only 6 months old, so, unless the battery is actually faulty I wouldn’t think about replacing just yet.

When comparing the 12 volt battery charging arrangements, between ICE and EV's, they are a little different.
Although taking the EV "out for a run" will be effective, as long as the car is sitting in "Ready" mode, the 12 volt battery will still be receiving a charge at the same level.
The car does not have to be on the move.
So it could be standing on your drive.
But you don't get the pleasure from driving it of course.
ICE cars do benefit better from being on the move, as the alternator is providing is best level of charge at roughly above 2000 Rpm.
Hope this make some sense.

Indeed it does. Thank you very much for your helpful information. We’ve just come back from our ‘long drive’ without any problems at all.
