MGS5 in the wild?

Dolomite engine was 1850, my dad had one. I remember it had an aluminium cylinder head with steel studs, so they welded themselves together!
Sorry - Yeah typo.
1850cc for the standard Dolomite.
I very nearly bought a Sprint about 3 months before I left the dealership.
I had a tip off from my friend in sales, that it had been traded in for really cheap money, because it was running rough and needed some work.
Probably needed a new head gasket and a new radiator to fix it.
I was saving for a house at the time and was encouraged to pass on it by my then girlfriend 😭.
I left the dealership and both of my friends who remained there, both bought Dolomites about 3 months later.
One was the 1850 and the second one was the 2000cc Sprint.
Both finished in white.
They offered to use them as cars for our wedding.
That’s the closest I got to owning one myself.
Triumph were open to trying different things to other manufacturers back then.
I clearly remember them bringing out the 2.5 PI with Lucas fuel injection.
Great when it was working correctly, but spit flames 🔥 when it had problems.
Happy days !.

Sorry , this thread has been Hijacked but I remember my Dad opening his Dolly up full throttle while we were on holiday in Scotland. Wow that thing flew along (probably not as fast as I thought but I was only 12!)

My first car was a Triumph 1500TC, the forerunner of the Dolomite. I really wanted a Stag though when I was 18.
I have a 73' STAG!!! Original V8......

Of course the car I really coveted was the Lotus Esprit (yes, because of the spy who loved me). I did eventually end up with an S2 Elise (with the rover 1.8 K series engine, so still sort of on the highjacked thread topic)

Back to the roots.
I am one of 4 MGS5 owners in Mayo, Ireland. Haven't seen any of my brother or sisters.
Great data available for Ireland at SIMI Motorstats

That is a cracking example TBF.
It takes a lot of work / time & money to have a Stag in that condition, you have my respect my friend.
I know the thread has gone a bit “off topic” but, sharing stories and experiences is what it all about really folks.

Still not seen one either. Or I just haven't noticed due to the invisibility cloak they all wear.
They sort of do but it's more of a variation of a SEP* field in that they look very similar to other small SUVs so you don't notice them.

Having said that I have seen a black one outside the local junior school.

*Somebody Else's Problem (SEP) field, which makes items invisible by exploiting the human tendency to ignore what they don't want to deal with. It is a highly efficient, "cheap" alternative to traditional cloaking that makes objects unnoticeable, often used to hide large items like spaceships or mountains.

I positively look at every small SUV because I really want to see another S5. So, it's really not a question of hiding in plain sight.

We live in a relatively small village and I was shocked to see another S5 in blue, pull alongside me at the school a few months ago !.
I have seen another white S5 using a rapid charger at a local hotel close by and spotted a black one, parked up in a supermarket only last week.
Not seen a red one on the open road yet ?.
I see the same blue MG5 parked in one of the two EV charging bay, every single time we visit M&S.
It must belong to to a member of staff I think.
We have two ZS EV’s and a MG4 in our small village also.
