Very strange that they didn't push back harder against accepting the car for a refund, or want to check it.

Something isn't right here. They didn't fight you over it? Didn't deduct mileage? It's different to how everyone else's car works?

Oh sorry I missed that bit. Fair enough. Still weird that different people are having different problems, and that the dealer didn't want to try to fix it.

Yes indeed I took a hit because the car on buy back was 6 weeks old. Very little I can do without a real fight and getting other bodies involved to prove the car is faulty. That’s a fight I don’t have the time or energy to engage in.

The dealership was very laissez faire about everything. The most I got out of any of them there is that the salesperson thinks they’re not premium and prefers his BMW 1 series 🤣

To be fair MGs aren't premium, the cabin quality is improving quickly though

I suppose it depends what you mean. It's very quiet inside. Not quite German luxury brand quiet, but much better than anything else in the price range and it feels very refined. The cabin is nice, comfortable, and the ride is really smooth. Good suspension and the drivetrain is great. Even comes to a stop nicely.

Also, my point was more about how bad the ‘sales’ person was. More anti sales!
They are not sales people any more. They're just showroom attendants. I asked one of the salesmen at my local dealers what he liked most about the MGS5 and he said the phone holder in front of the charging pad.

My father was a car salesman and used to spend hours learning the brochure and the technical details so he knew the cars he was selling inside out. Now they just turn up.

You’re right. It amazes and saddens me. Also quite comical when you know more than the sales guy does about the car they’re supposed to be selling.

Although saying that, the phone holder is a really nice feature 😆

To be fair, the quantity and quality of information that flows through this forum is greater than I would expect the average car salesperson to know (they are, shall we say, an academically self-selecting bunch) so it is not surprising that the combined knowledge of those of us on this forum trumps that of the average person on the forecourt...

The lot at MG are still beaten by the Fiat dealer I saw a while back. Looked like Matt Lucas with a shiny grey skin tight well fitted suit, massive translucent g-shock watch and proclaimed he would give me a ‘balls out deal’. Struggled not to burst out laughing in the showroom.

OK, guys, before we get smutty, I have been wrongly accused on this one (as a flying instructor telling a lady student to do a "balls-out climb" in response to "Terrain - Terrain".) She said that she couldn't do a balls-out climb like the boys can.

I told her that the expression comes from steam engines providing full power, which means that balls on the governor being as far out as they go:

So I told her to get back in her box, which also didn't go down well*, so I suggested that we replace the term "cockpit" with "box-office". I may have lost the moral battle, but I won the linguistic one**.

* I've no idea whether she goes down well
** No, I meant verbal.
