Still no service schedule posted for the MGS5 , and any quote for low mileage plan comes back with a crazy high mileage price, considering the MG4 shows no 1st year service and 2-yearly checks thereafter. Only HEPA filters as required parts 'til 5th year.
Why are MG not posting a schedule?

I don’t think MG are offering “low milage” service options now 🤷🏻.

It looks like they've changed the service schedule for all of their EVs to every two years.

What happens to MG Assist which is renewed for 12 months after each year's service?

Can those who have paid for an annual service schedule get a refund for the years they don't now need?

In Australia. The MGS5EV now comes standard with 12 months/25000km which ever comes first. I'm a bit pissed off as I thought it would be like the MG4EV which is every 2 years when I did the research before buying.

That’s interesting Ian, I wonder why they have extended it then 🤷🏻.
They were SO keen that you submitted your car annually or every 10,000 miles to comply with the T&C’s of the 7 year warranty, now they appear to have pushed it back, what’s the theory here ?.
Are they doing this to free up more workshop time to deal with the increased volume of sales I wonder ?.
Combining two services and their costs into the one single visit, every two years ?.
You make a good point over the MG Assistance ( via the AA ) what is happening there then ?.
Interesting 🤔.

There seems to be confusion all around. Surely there is only filters needed and a brake fluid BP test needed?

What could you need to do so often?
In my first servicing, they changed the filter for the air conditioner and plug the car into a machine and routine check if the car is throwing any error message. FYI we have free servicing for 2 years in Nepal so not a lot of hassle for us.

I've emailed them this morning and will post the reply when I get one.

This is the email I sent:

It appears that the service schedule for MG EVs has increased from every 12 months to every 2 years according to your web site. https://www.mg.co.uk/servicing
Is this correct and what happens to the 12 month renewal of MG Assist after the car has been serviced? Is it now renewed for 24 months?

And here is the predictable reply:

Thank you for contacting MG Customer Care.
MG assistance is part of a servicing offer when you get your vehicle serviced by an authorised MG Dealership which is part of a 12 months cover.

Obviously something was lost in translation

You mean, like having a clue about just what is going on? No idea why it would be 2 yrs for the MG4 yet 12 mths for the MGS5 ..... although, reading through the forum threads and posts, it appears they return to the service centre a lot earlier than that .......

It s the typical cut and paste answer to almost all of the enquiries.
A very quick proof read of the query, then bang out a reply without even double checking if the response, goes anyway To answer the customers question 🤷🏻.
If you can’t answer a simple question like this correctly, what chance do you have if your issue is of a more serious nature then ?.
I am going to make a pure guess here folks and say that the S5 will be the same as other previous EV models.
Service annually.
I was asked if I wanted to take out a service plan when we bought our S5 at the end of August 2025.
I did decline though, as I prefer to “pay on the day” by choice.
I wish now, that I had asked to see what the service schedule was for the S5 as how do you sell a plan if you don’t know what the service intervals are ????.

Not sure where it says every 2 years?

The manual states to check the website and the website says:
All new MG vehicles need to be serviced at regular intervals. Each service should occur every 15,000 miles (or 10,000 miles for 16MY MG3 with Stop/Start) or every year - whichever comes first.
Source: https://www.mg.co.uk/servicing
(There is no specific MGS5 service interval listed as far as i can see)

I saw that there is some relevant service information on MG - Repair & Maintenance Information but after registering i see that it needs a subscription to access all files..
(which made me think about paying to get access to all the manuals there...)

The thought of a 2 year service schedule was mentioned earlier in the thread, as there was no mention of the annual service schedule being available.
Messaging to MG CS has only resulted in receiving the usual “cut and paste” response.
It offers no clear guidance on what the correct service schedule should actually be.
But I think we can second guess that the answer will be 12 month annually, when somebody at MG CS can be bothered to answer the simple question.
Oh……. It maybe a good idea to let the dealer network know as well, oh by the way !.

If you take out the "official" MG Service Plan the list of costs definitely states an Annual Service.

So anchoring to these price list then, the cost of the first service on a S5, is a spiteful £114.00.
Although this may appear as cheap, compared to some previous ICE owners.
When I compare this cost, to the cost of the 1st service on BOTH of our previous two ZS EV models 🤷🏻 it looks expensive 😵‍💫.
I think from memory, the first low milage service on both of our ZS EV’ models, where at least half of this price per car,
I would be very interested to interrogate the service “check off sheet”.
In order to try and establish where this increased work load / costing has come from.
I believe that MG does NOT offer the “Low Milage” services plans on new models any more.
It’s a “one price fits all” situation now I guess.
But MG CS where really never going to miss the opportunity, to continue taking in regular / annual / service work flow.
Buy extending the current service schedule intervals from one year, to every two years !!!!.
Has its own set of problems.

My guess is half the updates and fixes that have filtered down the line, are included in this service, you just have to pay for this now, no longer a free service provided by a benevolent service team, dedicated to making your MG miles all smiles :D
