The question about whether the service schedule is now two years comes from looking at what's involved on MG's website where years 1 and 3 appear to show nothing is checked.

So anchoring to these price list then, the cost of the first service on a S5, is a spiteful £114.00.
Although this may appear as cheap, compared to some previous ICE owners.

The average hourly rate for a main dealer technician (they can't be called mechanics any more) is about £100/hour. This is to cover the technicians wages, as well as the service staff's, building and garage equipment, etc. etc.

Three years ago a service for my Focus, including an MOT, at my local independent garage was £250.

Agreed - But you can’t really compare the 1st service on an EV to a service and MOT on a Focus TBF.
The so called first service on an EV is merely a 10 minute “Health Check”.
There are no oils / filters etc of course.
Bit of screen wash maybe .
But you will be changed extra for that.
It is likely to take longer to find the car and get it into the workshop, than the time it takes to perform the health check.
