We have a new 2025 MG ZS not a hybrid and not yet a year old. Current milage 3880 miles. bought from a main MG dealership. Came with the 7 year warranty. And for the 1st couple of months it was great. Then the infotainment system started glitching and screen kept going blank then coming on again. Took it back to dealer and they reset it. Worked fine for another few weeks, then started going on and off again. So back to the dealer. This time they said it needed a software update. Again worked fine after that then started playing up again So back to dealer once more. They got it working but wanted it booked in for further tests. A few days later it went blank. and stayed like that until it went back in on the date they gave us. (Yesterday) Yes there was problem. BUT they need to get in touch with MG before they can replace it to see if MG are willing to cover it under the warranty. I would think that is something that does not even have to be asked. I will NOT repeat my reaction to that. What I would like to know is how common is this? Should MG in fact be recalling the ZS to replace this. Or are people who own it just to put up with finding their own fixes and hope for the best.

Sadly the way that MG and its dealers work or don't work together is a big failing in customer support and the cause of more than one to desert the MG brand. The cars when there isn't a problem are great, you just have to hope it stays that way.

The car in every other way is great. It was a great price, really comfortable, quiet, very fuel efficient, great visibility. Even down to the care kit that came with it for keeping it looking good. As for the infortainment system, Although some of the stuff on it is nice to have it is not essential to us. We do not really use the radio very much, and we can just plug a USB port into the cigar lighter to get sat-nav via our phone, or I can use my wifes map reading skills like we did in cars before all these "conveniences" were around LOL. But the heating and aircon controls are on the thing as well. Not being able to set them up as we like is a real bind. This is Scotland you can get all 4 seasons in the one day.

I don't have any problems with my screen so far and from your description it could well be some lose wire connection somewhere ... In any event, the infotainment is under (from memory) 12 months warranty so you should be fine. Dealers are often clueless to some issues and for something they don't know, they have to ask MG to agree to pay for warranty work. Sorry about the hassle, hope you get it sorted soon. You can ask for courtesy car, I think AA cover you get with the car gives 3 days ... (can't remember, check it out).

Next time it happens, try keeping the "home" button pressed down for 10-15 seconds, that resets the screen like you reset laptop ... see what happens.

The "Next time" phase is done and gone. It is totally dead now. Just a black screen. Never comes on at all. The dealers themselves have been great. And tried to help. Their mechanics did get it working a couple of times. The sat-nav I could not care less about. I just want the proper heating/aircon controls back.

I have found that having a dongle in the OBD port so that you can use ABRP for example causes the entertainment system to crash. mine had the habit of crashing the DAB radio as soon as I removed the dongle and reset the system I have had no problems since. Not saying this is the cause of your issues but just a heads up for anyone having issues with theirs get that obd dongle out.

Got a call from the dealership to say MG has authorized the repair to the infotainment centre. They have received the parts and they will take it in this coming Wednesday for repair.
