Thrilled to bits with the MG5SEV
We have just done a Christmas run to pick up a relative 100 mile trip mostly all motorway and achieved 4.2 miles perc kilowatt. Average outside temperature of 6degC.
Very pleased with the efficiency. Motorway was busy but steady progress, had the cruise and follow for most of the trip. Wife will do the return trip just to see if there is any difference in driving style 😄

That's good for this time of year and helped by the busy motorway as you probably weren't doing much over 60ish.
My wife drove on the way back and didn’t hang around and still had a respectable efficiency of 3.7 All runs with AC heating on. I’m so pleased with the car. Around trip of 200 miles was less than £3. Happy days!

I was foolish enough to go to the chemist on Christmas Eve, so stood in a long queue for an extended time. For that entire journey a "bloke" (I don't just mean a bloke, but a "bloke") was telling his nearly silent friend how useless EVs are and how they cost as much per mile to run as a diesel and it was all a big conspiracy.

I couldn't be arsed, so I didn't say anything.

Actually, I must've been in a particularly sanguine mood, because I got to the front and was dealt with by someone with a badge proclaiming themselves to be a "Relief Dispenser." I didn't say a word.

...I might go back later though...

Its simple maths to prove the knuckle draggers wrong but I am guessing most of them didn't pay much attention in school so it would be fruitless to challenge them.

I bought a new S5 a week ago having sold my Tesla Model 3, that I’d had for 5 years. I’ve got to say I’m so impressed with the economy of the S5 (in fact impressed with the car in general).

I had to collect some car mats today which involved a trip totalling 145 miles. The weather was good and no a/c required which obviously helped. The car returned 5.2 miles per kwh which is impressive by anyone’s standards. I didn’t exceed 60mph but there were quite a few large elevation increases. Drove in Custom Mode with everything set to economy and one pedal driving engaged.

The Tesla was economical but this S5 seems even better although once I have to use A/C I’m sure the lack of heat pump will change the picture.

So far, colour me impressed and happy !!!

Two weeks in with my new S5. Getting to grips with it. All good so far.

I said goodbye to my 9 year old Toyota Auris Hybrid. I loved that car and always drove in Eco Mode. 136k on the clock. Never let me down, no problems whatsoever. I managed to achieve an average consumption of 64 mpg.

I am doing a 40 mile journey each day and am achieving 5.5 miles per kw.

My return journey starts with a 3 mile down hill element, in which the car indicates 20 miles per kw. This drops down over the journey to the average of 5.5.

Very pleased so far.

Mine wont work in economy mode and full one pedal driving. So I just use it with the standard normal mode and full one pedal driving.
If you select Custom (having set power to Eco within Custom) and then select OPD it should work. At each restart OPD holds but the mode returns to Normal. Simply set one of the shortcut buttons to bring up Vehicle and you can then easily set back to Custom and even select the Energy Saving Mode button which is directly under the OPD button.

Sounds a little complicated but once setup it’s so easy to enable Custom each time and even if you don’t enable Custom then by default OPD still persists in the Normal driving mode.

Good luck and let us know if this worked for you, I can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t.

Only noticed yesterday that S5 turns radio down when I select reverse, the turns it back up when I select drive. Sensible safety feature that lets you focus on reversing. Like it!

Yep, like you say simple but a nice feature, same on the MG4. Also another nice simple feature, if it's raining, and you've got ya wipers on, and you put it in reverse, it puts ya rear wiper on. 🙂👍

Yes, I like it too.

But isn't the reason to ensure you can hear the sound from the parking sensors?

Yep. That worked. That along with the 3.51pence per kWh drop in unit rate that British Gas put through today will make it even cheaper.
