Mk1 ZSEv phone app

When the original ZSev came on the market an app was available but not in the UK (possibly even Europe) due to data going to China. The latest MGs have the iSmart app. Can this be used with the older MGs? or is there any other apps available for the original ZSev?

Sorry - NO !.
The original ZS EV is not equipped with the necessary equipment to communicate with an external server and then the App.
You are not the first person to ask this question .
In Thailand the original ZS EV does have the ability to use the App but not here !.
Only the new ZS EV face lift model, has a working App.

ovms supposedly supports the mk1 ZS but it will involve adding hardware to the car, and I have no idea how well it works.

Yes, it works but only as far as OVMS functions allow.

The issue with the Gen 1 ZS EV was that the whole software system build was different and the Thai Head unit had additional external Hardware which wasn't compatible with the European and I believe Australian cars.
