Hi everyone. I hope this question is in the right forum. I picked up a 2023 ZS EV TROPHY last week and when I test drove it, the mode button (sport, normal, eco) was working. Since I got it home it doesn’t change mode any longer. When I start the car it will default to either sport or normal, there’s no logic to which it selects. The only way I can change it to normal mode (from sport) is to turn the car off and back on.
I’ve tried giving the switch a little tap and I’ve also reset the head unit and removed the accessory battery for around half and hour to see if that bumped it into working again but no luck. I wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar.

The garage I bought it from said I can take it in for repair but it’s a 3 hr round trip so was hopeful someone on here may know a quick fix?
Thanks for any advice and time :)

I am not experienced but could you go into the menu and do a factory reset?

Others on here might know more about this. You have already disconnected the 12v battery, which would have been my first option.

Keep us informed how you get on.

Hi, thanks so much for your reply. Yes I did factory reset via the head unit (multimedia display). Is the an option to factory reset the actual car itself? I couldn’t find any options online, other than to disconnect the battery.
I’m sure it’s software related as when I looked at how the switch unit is connected (online photos) it’s one clip in switch for all the whole of the unit which does the battery, kers, and the gear selector wheel.
It’s a pain that’s for sure as it feels like it just needs resetting somewhere.
Thanks again for your help.

After what you have done so far, it's safer to drive for 3 hours than risk doing something that might invalidate warranty and cost you £1,000...
Check with that garage if there is another local MG that could fix it instead.

Mine always starts in Normal and then I switch it to Eco.

Perhaps the double way toggle switch isn't connecting on one of the sides? Ie the push is working but the pull isn't. Perhaps it might be worth calling the dealer you bought it from and ask them. Just a thought. Hope you get it sorted OK.

My daughter spilled some water on the Mode Toggle switch and now it is not working.
The KERS toggle button is also not working but the Battery switch is displaying the Battery capacity on the main screen,
Has anyone had experience removing the Mode Switch?

I spilled coffee over mine and have almost the exact same problem. I can change the drive mode to sport but not back to normal or eco, i can only let it return to normal mode of i turn of the car and back on. The kers button does nothing and the battery button has remained at full function. The kers and battery lights have dimmed almost to off also... i tried a lot from the outside but could not fix it. I dont want to risk opening up the center console myself since its a company lease. Therefore I'm gonna go to the dealer and have them fix it. When they do I'll ask them if they can tel me what was damaged and if i could have repaired it myself. If so. I'll share it here.
