Hi everyone
Apologies if this has been discussed. I have a MG ZS EV. I park my car in a secure garage, and I turn off the engine. However my music on the infotainment keeps going, so I have to lock the car to turn off the music. Is there a way the music can be turned when I turn the engine off, so I do not have to lock the car

We have exactly the same situation with FL MG5, seems an odd way to configure the car by MG.

Mine does the same thing but will turn off after 5-10 minutes. If I want to turn it off straight away, I lock and then unlock the car by pressing the button on the door handle and then open and close the door to cancel the auto lock if I want to keep the car unlocked.

PITA but it works for me.:)

This is a design 'feature' and applies also to Apple car play too (as long as the telephone is close to the car; it continues for 5-10 min then automatically turns off. The alternative to letting it time out or locking/unlocking the car is to pause the radio in the radio page.

What I would like to know is how do you turn the music on for longer time without needing to keep on hitting the button again to only get another 5-10 minutes e.g. you might be working in the garage for an hour or so and want to listen to the car music.

Older cars you just set the key to accessories and it would run until to turn of the key.

If you stop the car and then hold down he home button (not the screen one) for 5 secs it will turn off the radio. As other s have said it does go off after 10 mins though unless you lock the car.

Press mute on the steering wheel or pause on the screen. It will switch off by itself after 5-10 min. But - my friend had his car stolen from his "secure" garage as it was left unlocked. Your insurance would not cover the loss.

Try pressing the start button without pressing the brake, that gets the car into half-ready mode (yellow led on the start button is on). Haven't tried it but might work ...

This is the most frustrating aspect of MG, they have all of the tech, they have the know how and yet do crazy programming like this, absolute madness. My BMW i3 has great logic in this area. If I have the radio on and stop the car, the radio continues until I open the door, then it stops. If I have a passenger and I stop the car, the radio (and climate control) continue until both doors have opened. All of the tech involved in this process is onboard the MG, just some sensible coding in the system and it would all be sweetness and light. They could even make the auto off time adjustable in settings, overridden of course if the 12v gets below a pre-set limit.

I think you can put the car into the ready condition, green light on, and the radio will stay on. It is not as if you have the engine idling, there are only a few more lights on the dash.

Not certain if the car will shut down if you take the key out of range but I think it would.

Don't really see the problem here. Just lock the car and hey presto, the radio goes off, simple's. Even in a secure locked garage, I'd still lock the car. 🤷‍♂️
Not a problem as such just poor setup by MG. Why would you want the radio to keep playing when you've got out of the car? It's just a nuisance.

You wouldn't want the radio, to keep playing when your out of the car. That's why you lock it. Which you would anyway, every time you get out of the car. As above, don't see the problem at all. But obviously some do. MG do a lot of things wrong, imo, this isn't one of um. 🙂👍

OK, so you arrive home with a bootful of shopping from the weekly shop and you get out of the car lock it, unlock it, open the boot, pickup some of the bags, close the boot, lock it, take the bags in the house, return and do the cycle again. Many of us dont lock the car when getting out, I suppose it depends where you live but I dont see the advantage of leaving the radio on blurting out, thats a nonsense.

Do you seriously mean you want it to work this was as opposed to going off when you vacate the car?

John I'm sorry but I really don't know what you are on about. Taking your example.
I arrive home with shopping, I get out, I'll leave the radio on, not blurting out, just on, or turn it off with the toggle on the steering wheel. Open the hatch, take the shopping out. Close the hatch. Lock the car. That's it. End of.
This thread is a prime example, of over thinking, the simplest of things. 🙄🤪
