My MGS5 Trophy LR has arrived!

There has always been a degree of difficulty with the introduction of a new model but this seems to be at another level. Does the ABI code not help at all?

Most people who work don’t know what a IBA number is. What you get is, if it’s not list I can’t do anything. Latest list Tuesday 13th. Quote Me Happy, Money Supermarket,Direct Line, Axa, LV, Aviva, Saga and GO Compare all unable to quote. Tesco completed all the forms then declined to quote. MG’s press office we are working with your local dealer to try to resolve the situation. Just got to wait for companies to put the vehicle IBA details in to the system.
One week later after MG giving me the IBA number, and Miles Roberts confirming them to me on Sunday. Still can’t get cover or a price. WHAT WENT WRONG MG ?

Very annoying, ive tried to live chat with Aviva but I'm pretty sure it was either a bot or someone just messaging with canned responses. Will probably have to call them once I know a reg plate (which im hoping is soon).

I'm considering getting an MGS5 so I did an insurance search on Compare the Market. Came up with a few quotes including AA and Admiral.

Hi ksoni94. Yes my dealer in Ashford gave me the Reg Number last week but it’s not registered yet so can’t use that. Garage hasn’t registered it yet because if I have to pull out, and I don’t want too. They will be left with a 2nd hand car, so that’s the last thing that happens. So that’s why the reg number isn’t any help yet. All very frustrating and time consuming.
Would like more support from MG’s press office or head office sales team, to sort this out.

Feeling quite relieved that I was able to get my insurance sorted, only problem I encountered was convincing the online bot that because I’m transferring my registration number that it wasn’t still attached to my old car. On the other hand I suppose knowing the registration number before the dealer registers the car was handy.

Good news I have managed to get my insurance policy for my MG S5. Only took me almost two weeks. I drive a 20 month old MG4 Long range Trophy model which was insured with LV.
They confirmed yesterday afternoon that they can’t offer cover on the MG S5 Trophy.
This happens sometimes with new models was there reply. Many companies still don’t cover the S5 yet see my earlier comments. Including getting the MG’s press office involved, and Miles Roberts offering help and support. So Admiral have given me a Comprehensive policy that starts today.
I found the car and completed my deal on the 1st May, car in stock at MG Ashford (Caffyns).
Collection date 9th May, started trying to get insurance companies to cover it and me on Tuesday 6th and its taken me until today 14th to get a policy. The majority of companies still don’t cover the MG S5, some have it in the drop down, but can’t cover it yet.

Good luck to you all, try Admiral first I think.

Has anyone noticed on the Forum site WE haven’t listed the MG S5 yet, went to change my details from my MG4 long range Trophy model. By about 4pm I hope to have my MG S5 Long Range Trophy on the road. Bob

not sure if im being very impatient, but put the deposit down on Saturday and dealer said they should be able to get the car within the week and also said to expect to hear from them sooner rather than later. But it's almost the end of Wednesday and ive emailed but not heard anything. I probably am being very impatient but just want to know what's happening

Sometimes things don’t seem to work as the dealers expect, I ordered mine on the 28th April and the dealer expected the car to arrive on Wednesday 7th May according to MG’s tracking system. Car actually arrived on Friday 9th May early evening, so earliest I could collect is tomorrow afternoon due to other commitments. Fortunately those commitments involved moving furniture and building materials, so I was quite happy to be doing it in my old car.

Dealership is actually less than 20 miles from Royal Portbury Docks where MG’s import facility is, so distance wouldn’t have been an issue.

ahh that is interesting. I called about half an hour ago to get an update and was told I'd get a call back in 10mins but now the showroom is closed so I don't think that's happening

My general experience is that car dealers aren’t keen on getting back to you unless it’s good news.

The MGS5 will be added to the list in a month or so when the boss returns from his current trip away.
