My MGS5 Trophy LR has arrived!

Received the unfortunate news that the delivery is scheduled for June 26th which wasn’t the expectation set when we bought the car! Sadly I’ve already started the voluntary termination process for the ID.3 so we may need to cancel the order

A member of the senior team said he could get one within a week, and as we were leaving the salesperson we were with said to expect a call sooner rather than later so I anticipated to take delivery this week or next based on that

On the Compare the Markets site in the drop down box there’s MG and the one below is MG Motors, I found the MGS5 there. got several quotes; the AA was the cheapest.

Picked up mine this morning - I wanted Blue but in the end, I went for white cos I like how the black accents worked with it.

I had a drama with insurance too - my current insurer (LV) didn't have the MGS5 in their system to I had to cancel my MG5 policy (got a refund, result!) and I went with DirectLine in the end.

No MG official MGS5 car mats!!! I've kept my MG5 official boot liner just in case but it doesn't fit, unsurprisingly.

There are mats available; I got the dealer to include them to seal the deal. They appear to be better quality than those I had in the ZS.

Our dealer didn't have any - deal is already done! I'll pick some up when they become available.

Very similar - feels slightly deeper (vertically) and the MGS5 has the adjustable boot floor so if you have that in the lower position, it feels much deeper than the MG5. You now have a hard boot space cover (secured by strings to the boot lid) compared to the MG5's pullback cover bar approach - I liked the MG5 soft cover itself but it was a right pain to remove it if you wanted the extra height in the boot.

Have you managed to get insurance yet? I have been trying for the past week. MG only released the cars ID number on Wednesday. I have posted a detailed explanation this morning on the forum.
I have had a MGS5 waiting to collect but 15 insurance companies didn’t have it listed. Two gave me a quote on the MG5 not the S5. WATCH OUT. Regards Bob

Got Admiral. The comparison sites have it as an option but might explain the lack of quotes i got. Paid comparable price to my MG4.

We've got ours ordered for delivery in July, hopefully a painless swap over with the insurance by then with the systems being able to see it, and essentially the same car as the outgoing MG4 won't increase premiums (we hope)

We now have our VRM issued and 24 hours have past - car to be collected on Saturday.
VRM not recognised by the current insurance company (Hastings) and upon calling them, they said the car cannot be insured.

Running a manual "new customer" search makes me think the car isn't in the database correctly.
Selecting MG Motors as the manufacturer, there is an array of cars to pic from.
MG3 MG4 MG5, etc.
However the S5 is just S5 not MGS5, and proceeds to ask body style, fuel, transmission, etc... and at the end says sorry we can't offer a quote.

Back in May, what info did people need to get around this, and who did they need to speak to?
I'd rather not cancel the current policy and have the hassle of getting refunded and cancellation charges, if it can actually be swapped.

I picked up my MGS5 in May and had the same issues. A lot of companies simply didn't recognise it, including the insurer of my previous vehicle at the time, who initially were going to insure me for the wrong vehicle. Ended up going with the AA.

I had the same problem with LV insurance so insured with the AA no problem, and it was cheaper than my Mk 2 ZS long range Trophy.

I was with LV and despite giving them the insurance code for the vehicle, they still didn't want to know!

I had the same issue with my previous (MG5) insurer, LV, who I have to say were very unhelpful about the whole situation - essentially "computer says no". Went with DL in the end.
