Last week a stone hit our windscreen and made a triple impact star pretty much in the middle of the screen.
Autoglass just been to see it and concluded it needs complete replacement screen as overall damage area too large and too big a dip in the surface.
Not surprisingly Autoglass don’t have stock so I wonder how long that might take. It is useable and safe in the meantime though.
Suspect I may be the first to go through this experience……

With Autoglass and Admiral policy it was going to be £25 for repair but now £115 for replacement (these are the excesses)

Found this in MG4 thread:

Happy to update that the cracked windscreen has now been replaced by AutoWindscreens.
There was a 3 week wait for the screen to arrive and when it was fitted they had to bring in one of their 9 UK specialist fitters in order to do the recalibration (due to the cameras being situated behind the top middle of the windscreen).

I will probably write a more complete entry, but here is a short summary. I had a small crack in my MG4 trophy windscreen. To date, I have visited Autoglass 4 times, had 2 new windscreens and they have the car for a total of 13 hours….and it still is not resolved. They cannot sort out the calibration. Going back next week, 5th visit. I believe they will be using an MG windscreen and not one from a 3rd party. Fingers crossed this time

Had to have my 4EV Trophy windscreen refitted as it had leaked from new (2 years into ownership and a lost of wet carpets later). Camera Recalibration is proving difficult, the agents' windscreen fitter clearly did not do it correctly, agent had a go before I had the car back but it was not working correctly ie no auto high beam or traffic speed sign recognition. Took it back to the agent who had another go and gave up ( it was Friday Afternoon!) - they now wantt o return it to the screen fitter to recalibrate. Agent has left it in a worse state than before, none of lane safety alerts are on, no cruise control, collision alerts ( don't really need those!) as well as the previous problems.

We had our MG4 Trophy screen cracked by a stone last week and we are booked in for repair with AW next week in the pm - having read all the comments I'm just praying they sort the calibration out properly and on the day!

Just thought it worth updating this forum with my windscreen replacement issues with Autoglass on my MG4.

Visit 1 - Autoglass had a software issue so couldn’t replace the screen
Visit 2 - Replaced the screen but could calibrate the cameras due to the rain!
Visit 3 - Still couldn’t calibrate the cameras so they ordered another screen
Visit 4 - Replaced the screen again, but still cannot calibrate the cameras
Visit 5 - Installed with an original MG windscreen this time. Still cannot cannot calibrate the cameras.

I have various warning lights on and cruise control doesn’t function at all.

Aaarrgghhh!

I have now booked in with an MG dealer (not rip off merchants Glyn Hopkins I hasten to add) and am praying they get everything working.

Autoglass are being very vague about whether they will pay for the re-calibration. If others on this forum have had their screens replaced and cameras sorted, I would love to hear from you. I am not sure if this down to Autoglass incompetence or just bad luck. The car was absolutely fine before the screen was replaced.

If autoglass have tried 5 times, to do it and failed. Then surely they should pay. As they haven't finished the job. 🤔
Hope so anyway. 🙂👍

So today AutoGlass fitted our new OEM (SAIC) branded windscreen and calibrated it all within a 2hour visit to their Swindon branch. The lead up to the visit wasn’t without some confusion but in the end they delivered the goods well.
NB despite what I was repeatedly told before the fitting appointment which was scheduled to be done at my home (even after I had queried it), it does need the branch calibration equipment so it needed a visit there to do the job. And despite initial doubts whether they had the necessary calibration parameters, in fact they did.

I’m very jealous! I’m off to my MG dealer this week to see if they can sort out the calibration post Autoglass’s 5 attempts. Autoglass customer service has been extremely poor with no response to my complaint.

Finally, finally everything got sorted. Went to MG in Baldock. I think these guys are amazing. Long story short, turns out that it would seem Autoglass managed to set the car something like a factory setting, so it couldn’t detect the cameras. They have no idea how they managed to do that. It’s so great to have my car back fully working. And now I have various updates including the infotainment system and air con, so the car is not set to a reasonable temperature, not 26 degrees. Off now to try and get my money back from Autoglass.

This is the report from MG. Techie people on the forum may be able to make sense of it?

“Carried out initial code read, 1 unconfirmed code stored in the FVCM, invalid steering angle, aging. Carried out callibration of FVCM, failed on first try but went through on second. Warnings still on the dash. Carried out code read and inspection. invalid data code for the O/S/R drive assist module. Production mode is not switched off. Tried hard reset, no good. Recoded and relearnt modules, all working correctly with full comms. Carrie dout final road test all ok.”

So they replaced the screen a total of 3 times?! Keep your eyes peeled for corrosion issues appearing around the windscreen aperture in the near future as they're bound to have cut through the paint at some points during all those removals. :(
