MG3 Hybrid+
Hi,
The MG dealer here in Slovakia offered me the option to update the vehicle software (ECU) on my MG3 Hybrid+ Exclusive, and I’m not sure whether to go for it. It’s completely voluntary. I bought the car in September 2024.

I’m a bit concerned that the update might change the car’s hybrid driving characteristics, as several of you have mentioned that after the update, the car accelerates more slowly and the engine revs higher to provide enough power in critical moments. Even the dealer confirmed that the engine might sound louder afterwards.

I have no issues with my vehicle, and I’m satisfied with the current hybrid behavior. The car performs excellently, and I’m worried that the update might make it worse.
What does the latest update actually bring? Below, I’ve included the diagnostic report showing the numbers of the old and new ECU versions.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

I purchased my MG3 Trophy on September 24. Its just had its first service at 6000 miles, which I believe included a software update. The engine, when it's running, now sounds much sweeter, quieter and smoother than before. It doesn't scream in high revs like it did previously, so I'm very happy with the update.
I get huge mileage per gallon compared to the previous hybrid Jazz and a much more comfortable and rewarding drive. The tech on the car takes a bit of getting used to, but it is a brilliant vehicle and price to match.
