Hi Twido. There have been other posts on the forum about user experience. I suggest you scroll through this forum and read some of the posts which should help you get an understanding of other peoples thoughts and concerns. Here's just a few:
Having completed 2000 miles in my new HS Exclusive PHEV, mostly in UK, and on holiday in France and Belgium, here are my initial reactions. Many of the following points have been made in other posts, but this may be a useful summary for discussion.
The good: a lovely car for the money, I'm very pleased with it. The power from the combination of petrol engine and electric motor is good, driving position is comfortable (as are all the seats), and the car provides a smooth motorway ride. The adaptive cruise control is superb (though I've switched off most other driver assist functions)...
Hoping to benefit from your wisdom.
We are looking at buying a 2021 HS 1.5 T-GDI PHEV Exclusive. Yesterday we test drove it and although the battery was charged initially to 40% (it was showing a range of 12 miles), every time we tried to switch to EV mode it was telling us it couldn’t. Occasionally it did but would quickly come out of it. Even when stationary after driving it for a while it was telling us it couldn’t enter EV mode (battery was at around 38% by this time). The garage, after we left, put some more charge in it and called to say the EV mode was now working ok! We’ve asked...
Hi all,
This question may have been asked before, but what is the build quality and reliability like on the new HS PHEV. I’ve been doing some research on the web and there seems to be some concern about MG’s reliability and quality.
It’s coming down to a choice between the MG and the BYD Seal U.
Thanks.
Regarding the battery degradation, all batteries will degrade over time, some faster than others. My personal experience with my MG HS PHEV 2022 model has been very good. I'm in Australia so our model has a higher electric range than the European model apparently. When it was brand new my electric range was 63 kms. Now over 3 years later it's down to 61 kms, I'm very happy with that and still very happy with the car overall, have not had any issues. I've driven it on long journeys from Melbourne to Brisbane and back, a journey of over 3600 kms on more than one occasion driving 110 km per hour for most of the journey and all went very smoothly. Fuel consumption on a long trip like that was between 7 and 8 litres per 100 kms which is about 35 to 40 mpg for the non metric folks. The car is very heavy due to the battery so the fuel consumption can be a bit high at times but my day to day general driving is all done in electric mode which compensates for the fuel usage on longer journeys.
