New Facelift?

I think there will be some good deals as currently the new premium 64kwh has the same list price as a pre reg IM5 with only 15 miles on the clock.
Really not a fair contest

You know I think the 75kWh version is the bargain of the range for sure. Yes, it doesn't have the same performance/range as the other versions and doesn't charge as fast (if you can ever find a fast enough charger), but it is otherwise everything you need.
And at under £30k pre reg that's a heck of a bargain

It's high when you compare it to ice cars, a golf R that is capable of 155mph and 0-60 of 4.6 secs and has a mid £40k list price is a group 33

Mercedes A45 AMG again mid£40k 168 mph 0-60 3.9 secs group 41.

Insurance does seem to be weighted against Chinese cars a bit, must be due to parts availability.
European EVs with similar performance are all several groups cheaper

This might be why they are so cheap:

At the 41 sec mark, "Integrated rear-body, Die-casting Technology" I can't remember what brand EV it was, but the rear frame was a single diecast piece, an impact from either side of the rear, vehicle write off, unrepairable, the casting metal can't be welded, straightened or even crack repaired ..... That would make for an insane insurance rating ....
Shame about the IM5's insurance group being 50A (that's as high as they go!)
Ah, well, that says they already know the issues just around the corner ....

Yeah Nah, I stick with the pressed sheet metal MG4 I have now, it can at least be repaired on a chassis aligner ......

Yes, EVs built with large castings are expensive to repair and often written off even in slight impacts. Parts availability will also be part of the issue for IM: they have a whole supply chain to get working before it is repairable.

I did notice this year, how much cheaper it was to re-insure my MG4 for another year, which could either be because its value is lower or the car is getting cheaper to repair (or both or some other reason!).

I think car insurance in general is a fair bit cheaper this year, sure it was mentioned on Martin Lewis.
My Born is about £270 this year
