Chinese car market sounds pretty brutal with all the new players.

The existing MG4 clearly doesn't fit the auto-fashions of China (cute, bulbous and futuristic rather than aggressive and sporty) so I can understand why they are splitting between markets.

My worry for Chinese autos is that they don't seem to be profitable, so at some point there will be bankruptcies (or mergers). SAIC are State/City owned so no doubt much less likely to go bankrupt, though they could potentially shrink down if investors lose faith.

The UK seems to be a key market for SAIC.

Still, consumers are benefitting from all this competition and it is hastening the EV revolution.

I wonder if it might be the relative technological sophistication too, in reportedly a quite tech-savvy market. The MG display feels very old fashioned compared to youtube videos of BYD and other cars, then you have other brands with things like lidar-based self driving, compared to MG's dodgy if slightly improved recently lane-keeping.
