MG4 New plates, mudflaps and a debadge.

Can I ask any of you guys who have fitted the mudflaps from Aliexpress or eBay, how effective are they? How much muck do they prevent from splashing up onto the sides and sills of the car?
My front doors are pretty filthy after all this absolutely naff weather we've had for the last week. It's all silty sort of dirt, the sort that scratches paint no matter how carefully you try to wash it off!!

From what I understand they are mainly cosmetic but they do help in keeping mud etc. off the protruding sils and doors which will help with keeping clothes clean when alighting.
You may still get some dirt low down on the sils as the mud flaps are not very wide.

Agree with above, but do like to fit to provide some protection even if they are smaller these days. I have a Kia EV6 with a lot of soft shiny black plastic trim around the wheel arches and lower sills. I was advised by the guy who did the new car detail to fit them in order to help protect from stone chips.

Hi mate, I fitted mudflaps from AliExpress on two MG4s now! Fit perfectly and tight fit

I fitted mine on Saturday after i washed the car. The car hasn't moved till today.
Took it to work, mainly 30/40mph roads, about 8 miles in heavy rain, the car is still spotless.
I'll go home later on the motorway with higher speed and see how it looks then.

Christmas eve...... I have my own small tradition of washing all the cars and just take my time and let the wife watch Christmas movies on the telly.

The inlaws got there Aygo washed, then done our Mini Clubman and the MG4, my toy is already in the garage since last month due to salt etc.

Once the 4 was clean, I got to installing the the mudflaps from Aliexpress and the new plates (to remove the Arnold Clark name and green strip) I ordered that turned up today, so got to sticking them on too. While doing the rear plate I decided to remove the badges from the boot. To my eyes it looks cleaner but everyone is welcome to their own opinion 🙃

Debating wether to order the black MG cover badges for the front and rear (if we can access the rear one as its under the plastic light cover).

Ordered a couply of keyrings and a black Trophy badge from Ali aswell. Debating about putting in on the car or the toolbox lol.

Have a good one tomorrow folks!!!

Merry Christmas!!

Paul.
I like 3d plates, they add a nice touch to the car.

Anything that limits crud hitting the door sills can only be a good thing (given how wide they are).

I fitted the Aliexpress version and find that they seem to do the job.

I did same with mine. Had new plates made with private reg, MG72 and sons initials. Mudflaps. De badged. Got a spare wheel too. Inflation kits are a waste of time. Mine sits in garage and I use diesel run around until its dry weather. Love the 4. Fabulous to drive

If you don't mind me asking, how did you remove the boot badges?
Will probably do the same, makes it easier to polish

Debadge, just heated them up with the wife’s hair dryer and pulled them off slowly. Pretty much all the glue came off with the badge. A small amount of polish removed the excess. The electric badge was a bit of a bugger just due to its length. I didn’t want to snap it as I’ll add it to the toolbox.
A common trick is to use dental floss to saw through the glue behind the badges.

Dental floss does work well but only really needed on older cars where badges have been on for a few years. On a brand new car the glue tends to still be soft "ish" and will usually come off along with the badge, saves a bit of clean up.

Still undecided what to do about my black trophy badge though. Think its going on the toolbok lol.

What do you do if it’s -6c? Still wash the cars?

Nearly all the pop-up car washes seem to have disappeared now. They used to be on every corner.
