New to EVs

I have only had an EV for a couple of months but I just drive like normal and charge when I need to I’m still getting over 4.2 and I’m loving the EV experience. It’s just a state of mind 😊😊😊

Yeah, Bjorn did a lot to make it seem perfectly normal before we went for it. (I would have gone earlier if we had the money, but EVs used to be expensive before the MG4 came out!)

You charge while parked up and then get a top-up as necessary from a rapid charger if you need one.

Norway are far ahead, but the rest of the world will catch up.

Travelled around Norway in the summer for a couple of weeks and you are right they are miles ahead of the UK, Oslo especially was pretty much ev dominated on the roads even up in Tromsø, in the arctic circle, was about 50-50 split on the roads

I think the charging network in the U.K. is good (except some of the prices) they are everywhere in the south east
Yeah, but the number of EVs is pretty low, so the number of chargers needs to keep increasing.

Which will mean more choice, more flexibility and eventually cheaper prices. I think it will come.

I cannot agree with you. I have driven EVs for over 11 years and it is certainly improving. However, if I want to drive down to Cornwall the options are far more limited. We need more signs that show where EV charging is. The signs need to inc the price and the rate of charge being offered.

It is getting better but outside the South East the density and availability is not as good. There are still deserts (like large parts of Dorset).

In case it helps, on the IM5 75kWh (so lighter than the IM6 and heavier battery cars), it was showing 2.9mi/kWh from new. I think you'd struggle to get 300 miles regularly even on the 100kWh car, particularly as you'd never run it lower than about 20% normally anyway before charging.
If you want to do 300 miles without worrying, this isn't the car for you - we're looking at the Mercedes CLA, partly for this reason.

My last visit to Scandinavia, especially Denmark then electric is pretty much the only option. RFL on anything else is exorbitant.

Yep. 98.3% of car sales in Norway are now pure electric, with Denmark at round 60% if I remember correctly. Way ahead of us and showing us that it's just people who are the problem, not technology, with widespread battery EV adoption.
