News on delivery of first Batch of IM5

Hi , I am creating this thread to monitor the news regarding the delivery of the firat batch of IM5 ...
The original release was that the car will be available by September 2025. Now September is gone and I don't think there are any vehicles delivered to customers yet, even dealers are getting the odd specimens for demo and test drive.
If anyone has info regarding any deliveries... Please post here.
How long have you been quoted till delivery, my dealer and my lease company gave me an estimated 8 weeks.. Read that others said 12 to 16 weeks?

Ordered the IM6 during the weekend. Private purchase. Was told up to 16 weeks.
I would presume the same applies for the IM5.

I ordered an LR IM5 three weeks ago and was quoted 10 to 12 weeks delivery.

Lease company put my order in a week ago and I'm being quoted Jan 2026, which is in line enough with the 10-12 weeks. Although longer if it ends up being late Jan.

Well, I suppose taking into account the Christmas break, that's still around the initial estimate.
Hopefully we won't get the debacle that happened around the introduction of the MG4 three years ago. My initial estimate then was eight weeks and it took almost 20!!!

Do we get the feeling that they may be prioritising the more expensive versions?
Not sure how MG is managing orders but I remember when I ordered my Tesla if you went for the LR AWD or the Performance the delivery times were far quicker compared to the standard range.
This was when the car was first introduced in the market.

Having worked with some dealerships over the last decade or so, you probably can buy the one you are test driving.

However, I'm fairly certain that MG will have some stipulations that they will need to have a demo and/or showroom car always on display, especially as this is a new model.

So if you buy it, you may be waiting for them to get a replacement before you actually get it.

According to my lease company, there is already a boat with a load of IM's already on their way that should land in the uk is around 4 weeks, so you might not be waiting that long

Not much I'd say, but very happy to be proved wrong as I ordered mine four weeks ago!

My suspicion is that people will start to get their cars very quickly, as MG will have planned boatloads of them to arrive over the coming weeks and months. Unless you order an unusual combination (which with there only being three models, I suspect means a white interior with a blue exterior!), I suspect delivery times will quickly settle at 3-4 weeks, i.e. from existing UK stock.
@calwoo have fun driving the IM5 that we test drove a couple of weeks ago They have the 75kWh version, so base spec, but still very nice to drive if a little sluggish by EV standards.

Mine was ordered around 4 weeks ago - grey with white interior - , expected in the UK dealership Late Jan!

Fingers crossed its a little quicker than that!

Hi, yes I test drive one last Monday and was told 4 months to order....so I asked can I buy the demo model (only been there two weeks & 300 miles)? And they said yes. Luckily it is the middle option long range. I wanted blue but black will do! Got quite a few reductions plus 11k on PX for my 6 yr old PHEV Prius! So a good price. Pick her up tomorrow! I'll let you know how it goes.

It is usually an optimistic dream, but it can come true. Absolutely don't depend on it.

It is common to make batches of the same spec and to start with the higher specs because they can reliably sell them quickly to pent-up demand, bring in low spec batches a little later to tempt the harder-to-catch buyers.

Indeed. Spoke with the dealer, purely indicative.
The car has been ordered, the dealer is waiting to hear back from MG.
I am not in a hurry to be honest. Ideal would be a January delivery. When the insurance of my current car will be expiring.
By then I hope insurance prices to have further dropped too

With a new car, it is hard to get a good insurance price as you really need to look 21 days ahead for best prices, but you typically can't because you need the registration and that's not available typically until just before you get the car. Insurers squeeze last-minuters because they can.

This often means paying more than you ideally would in the first year.
