No Radio signal usb disk failure

Hi all my hybrid+ 75 plate less than week old, lost dab signal on a long drive never returned, now can’t get any stations on dab, fm and am got error message when starting up “usb disk initialisation failure” went to
Dealer took Earth of battery to initiate full restart, cured problem.. found needs software update, going in tomorrow in mean time error reoccurred at same spot, its as if dab loses signal and can’t reaquire, loading all of radio. Any one else had this?

Had the same issue with my mg hs hybrid+ that i have had since getting at the end of August. Had this issue three times and been back to the dealer twice and now there again since last week. Seems to be the same issue that other people have had and seems to be linked to the software of the DAB radio and when the vehicle moves from area to area or could be possibly to do when connecting a mobile phone through a usb lead but might not be the case. The dealer says that they have been doing different software updates to sort the issue. Interestly these issue seems to affect some of the phev models as well and also other mg models in their range. Hopefully though this issue will be fixed this time around by the dealer.

Hi, just got car back after 4 days in dealership.. dab working, but will need to go back for a software patch. Probley next week!

Hi I had same problem on Zs Ev dealer has just fitted an new radio module, I think they called it an RBMS and usb lead, only just got car back so hopefully it’s sorted, they had the car for over a week and it’s come back filthy so not happy with them but if radio is working fine hey ho I’ll have to live with it . When I got it back all my channels where still stored and recent sat nav addresses still there if radio module was changed I thought this would all disappear and be a clean install. Any thoughts .

First thought, I thought they had to take battery off to initialise a hard software restart, this would wipe all data what does info on mpg / mileage etc accumulated say if reset then software restart if same no software restart! I got mine back after 4 days roving mg specialist looked at it and was insistent not a radio hardware problem but a software, so far so good. They should have cleaned the car as well mine did! Hope this helps.

Yes, almost exactly same. 1 week old HS hybrid, radio stopped playing in area of weak signal. Garage repaired but same thing happened yesterday. Same USB message too.

Very similar experience, HSPHEV Trophy bought September got the fault Radio locked out and USB Disk Indentification Fault about 2week after getting it. Plus 12v battery Low avoid parking vehicle for more than 3 days. Local dealer 2 month before could get an appointment. Tried where I purchased it from in Brigend. 1month wait. meanwhile 12v battery went flat. AA got me started and I charged the battery drove down to Brigend. Then ran into the we have to send data to MG fiasco, so 1 day became 1 week. Was sorted but drove less than 3 mile same thing happened, back to garage and miraculously the fault cleared. I stayed over the weekend and it all worked. But MG Teckies couldn't replicate the fault. So left with me to monitor. Dec 4th same thing happened booked into Brigend for 19th Jan, meanwhile battery crashed after Christmas after full charge and dropped over night. and no amount of charging even brand new smart charger would charge it Left it til this week to get the AA to relay 140 miles to Brigend, which they did after I explainied why they should. The dealer said to get it there and they'd look at it as a rescue so. going down from North Hampshire tomorrow to see what's what. Can't say I trust the car much now, so 'girding my loins' for a battle, either new car or Refund.
So don't buy a PHEV if you wish to go on holiday for more than 3 days or work from home. That Message is just a get out jail free card for them which was understandably not told about when selling it, no one I've told can believe that it was true.
I think it's a case of too much tech and not enough power in the 12v battery and too many bugs in the software, That or Parasitic Battery drain

If you’ve had car less than 1 month you can reject it, if more than 1 month and less than 6 months you can still reject it but you have to give them 1 chance to repair it, I had the same sort of faults on a Zs Ev ended up rejecting it and upgrading to a mgs5. It’s hard work but go on ChatGPT and ask the question about rejecting faulty car and list the faults.

Hi, obviously mine not PHEV , but Hybrid+ but I did reject first car, loved that Hampstead grey, dealer repaired/replaced whole infotainment system, but I drove away a black Hybrid + Trophy. I had same fault occur in same place. This time I took negative battery cable off for 15mins and reattached causing a hard software restart, cleared problem but very weary on a run never use same dab channel at problem sport and use CarPlay instead. Not ideal but it saves the hassle of the recurring fault. If you are going down reject r replacement route make sure next car has had all software updates and I believe new 26 cars have wireless CarPlay port!
