Anyone else roasting in their MG HS with the sun streaming into the car via Non Tinted Windows? I end up having to cover my right arm and leg in a pale coloured towel to reduce the heat. Poor show when you consider that this is certainly not a basic car. Also considering the high percentage of cars on the road that have tinted glass as standard. I won’t be purchasing another of these unless they sort this out.

You can add the tint if it's a big issue.
It's not that expensive.

It's an optional extra in Australia, but with the strength of the sun here it was a necessity for me. It cost me $499 AUD which is about 265 GBP and I was happy with the price. The car had its first service recently and they gave me a loan car for the day while it was being serviced. The loan car was a HS without tinting and I sure did notice the difference so I'm glad I got the tinting done.

Just had mine done, rear doors, rear quarter lights, rear windows, £130. I used “Tint Box” in Thetford, East Anglia. it’s a one man band (Jev), it took two hours, I can’t fault his work or the quality of the tint wrap which has a lifetime guarantee.
The car is transformed in hot weather, previously interior surfaces were so hot it was painful, now it’s fine.
The windscreen and front doors remain untinted so I’ve tailored a black bath towel to the shape of the dash top, this protects the whole dash and particularly the central display screen housing from direct sunlight. Previously I couldn’t touch the rear of the display screen housing or top of the instrument binnacle on hot days, now it’s fine. It sounds like a tatty piece of towel on the dash, but it’s machine sown to shape then turned inside out, it looks like a made to measure accessory.

I've had the same problem of heat through the front side windows on my HS Exclusive PHEV even in the UK. Strange - have never had that problem on a previous car, or my wife's VW Up. Advice from the local car glass specialists said the MG windows are AS2 spec as they should be, giving 70% visible light transmission and that any extra tinting would be illegal in the UK. So I'm having clear, heat absorbent film applied which is legal and should reduce the heat transmission problem. We'll see. Would be interested in what glass specs are factory fitted as standard in other countries. In the UK, apart from the AS2 glass on front side windows, I have AS3 (privacy glass) on the rear windows and screen and AS1 laminated on front windscreen. The specs can be found on the bottom corner of each window/windscreen.

That’s a lot of information! All I can say is that my window specs were checked as part of the process, all were untinted but estimated to be restricting approximately 3% of light. There was no tint wrap light enough offered that that could legally be used on the windscreen or front door windows. Clear heat absorbing film was not offered but I’ll be interested to know if yours makes a significant difference on the front door windows.

As more information on this, I had transparent heat reflecting film applied to the insides of both front side windows last week. This seems to have reduced the heat coming through the side windows without adding significant extra tint. The fitter measured the visible light transmission of the windows as 79% before and 76% after application of the film, so still easily compliant with the 70% minimum required by UK law. The film is undetectable and is Llumar AU85 type which blocks nearly all UV and in my case cost £80 for supply and application by the local car glass specialist.
