As I'm unable to select the petrol engine over the EV motor if there's still charge in the high voltage battery.
I don't like the idea that the petrol engine could be req'd to kick in from stone cold. Especially in the winter months.
The idea that the petrol engine could be woken up from its stone cold slumber at 2500rpm.
Isn't great at all.
But is that why the oil grade is so thin/watery at 0w-20?

I don't think a modern engine needs warming up like they used to, but I'm sure that if it was likely to be a problem in hybrids, manufacturers will have built in some sort of safeguards.

IMHO, vehicle manufacturers are far more concerned with pleasing the ecomentalists. Than producing reliable vehicles.
Take the Ford 1ltr, 3 cylinder Ecoboost (Ecoboom) engine as a prime example Clive.
A tiny engine that's far more suited to a motorcycle, than a large family car.
Not to mention that stupid wet cambelt.

Well that was the worst idea ever in the history of the motor vehicle.

It's one of the reasons I got rid of my previous car.
It had the 2.0 Ecoblue diesel engine. Which also runs that daft wet timing belt system.
The official change interval is 10yrs but I read several stories of the belt snapping at 6yrs.
And mine was 6.5yrs old.

The awards will have been from tree huggers who believed the quoted fuel economy figures.

We definitely aren't far away from EV's making far more sense than ICE vehicles.
But we aren't there yet.
